Chavignol Sancerre Pinot Noir 2019

This has integrated quite a bit since last spring. Acidity is in check, and tannins are at a pleasant place. Good red fruit, blood orange, a little spice. It's now or never.

Look at you, @Dave, pouring a 7-year-old Sancerre Rouge that was still good!! Pretty sure this was @Tom Casagrande’s reaction when he saw how OLD this wine was you pulled!! 🤔🙄👀💩

@Doug Powers @Dave - It’s kind of a secret, but I have a 2019 red Sancerre in the cellar that I’m planning to drink this summer! I’ll have the paddles ready to try to shock it back to life if needed.

Silex Sancerre Pinot Noir 2016

Mineral nose with pencil lead and a bit of nail polish too (even if that's not really mineral). A bright cherry lingers underneath. The palate is full pinot noir expression with lots of acids, a bright fruit, some tannins in the rear, a good granular texture with some kind of veil, and this fresh cherry all along and continuing very long in the finish. Some bitterness to on the rear. Very nice yet simple expression of pinot noir — 7 years ago

Le Cul de Beaujeu Sancerre Pinot Noir 2015

Bright and a bit feral. long finish. Fresh as a daisy. Could be a modest 1er Burg. Excellent with poulet roti and frites. K&L just dropped this quietly on their website (presumably winery direct) for $20. Crazy. — 5 months ago

There is too much wine in the world. Going through the wine stores recently i have the impression some are not doing that well. And there were a couple which closed.

@Pinotman /// Andreas - Certainly too much mediocre wine. And that’s what most wine retailers sell the most of. There was a recent article in Decanter about the glut of bulk wine. But as to the really good stuff, I think it may be a more nuanced issue. If I lived near a store as good as K&L, I’d be popping in a lot!

Silex Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2021

Delaporte never disappoints. This is a great Sancerre blanc. Lemon, lemon zest, a tiny bit of cat piss and a tiny flinty thing, too. The palate is very well made, showing a great acid drive, some width, some nice lemony touches all along, even some lemon curd notes in the backend. The rear of the palate is pretty wide and makes way to a very long, fruity, soft and fresh finish with lemon and that zing that makes you reach for the bottle for another glass right after the first one. This great stuff, really! — 2 years ago
