Very fruit forward, red fruits, good acidity and balance, drinking well now (though seems like it’d still be solid with a few more years in the cellar), longish finish, very well made!! — 2 days ago

Red fruit, a little straightforward, @Tom Casagrande said “carbonic maceration”, which is apt, good, nothing more, another Garagiste house label, but not playing at the same level as their Ca Rozzeria Italian house label bottlings!! — 4 days ago

[En Magnum] Lovely, fresh, crisp, old school Bordeaux from the family who were the cellar masters of Chateau Palmer back during this time frame, 12% ABV, perfumed, violets, soft, plummy fruit, great acidity, longish finish, this wine is about subtlety, not power, excellent!! — 6 days ago

@Tom Casagrande, Claude Kolm (a lawyer/now retired(?) used to write/distribute “The Fine Wine Review” — he also still publishes on Substack, I believe he and his wife now (mostly?) live in Paris, and I think you can follow his excellent Paris reviews (free??). . . . Anyway, when I first subscribed to his wine newsletter back in the mid-1990s, he occasionally wrote about this producer, raving about the high quality/fine QPR of their wines, but OF COURSE the wines were only available in Europe, no U.S. importer. But, being the crazy dude I am (surprised?? 🤷), I found a shop selling the wines “in bond” in Edinburgh, Scotland!!?? (Yep) Then, I knew someone importing wines, in the early 2000s they used to be able to fill up a reefer with up to 5 cases of “samples”, which is how this wine got to me (there was also a shipment from Edinburgh, together with payment of taxes, to a producer in southern France, who added these samples to the reefer). Bottom line, I was able to bring in 5 cases, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998 and 1999, the 1994/1998/1999 were magnums, while 1995/1996 were fifths. Likely a once in a lifetime thing, but love these wines!!

@Doug Powers - Now THAT is determination! Seems like a large work project just to get it! What does “in bond” mean? Decanter uses that term all the time and it always puzzles me.

@Tom Casagrande, “en bond” or in bond simply means the wine BEFORE VAT and any other taxes are imposed. Technically, the shop cannot release any so purchased wines unless and until they collect these taxes. Makes total sense for futures.

Dark fruits, big structure, but a little mushroom underneath, this is from the top portion of the old Seven Springs vineyard (the lower portion was purchased by Evening Land after the owners divorced in the late 1990s), lingering finish, but not at the top level of Seven Springs/Anden Pinot Noirs I’ve drank over the years. — 2 days ago

Beautifully perfumed flower and sweet red fruits, the flavors show the red fruit as well, very well-balanced, soft tannins, close to mature, long, lingering finish, really a beautiful aged Oregon Pinot Noir that will pair wonderfully with the wild Copper River sockeye salmon!! — 4 days ago

Very dark purple color, this is SO youthful that I think even @Tom Casagrande would agree it might need another 5-10 years (from now) aging, big, rich, not an after-dinner sipping wine on a 90 degree day, shame on me!! — 3 days ago

[60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot] So, an Italian IGT recently purchased, in large part due to the continued public shaming from @Tom Casagrande about all the “Over the Hill” wines I post, me trying to be HIP and not the old fart I truly am. Too much oak, modestly Italian aromatically and on the palate, but LOADS of oak, the DAMN bottle itself weighs so much I was pissed @Dave wasn’t out here in NorCal to help this old fart even LIFT it, wine is vaguely impressive for those who love Italian IGTs, but I keep asking myself why I’d buy this instead of Margaret River or non-CULT CA Cabs?? Price was reasonable, but I have literally HUNDREDS of better Cabs and Merlot in my cellar, and the Sangiovese here only seems to supply acidity and balance (a good thing on this young blend). But, I shoulda stayed straight Italian here (no CS or Merlot) or opened an older (10-20 years old??) CA or Margaret River beauty. Honestly, just an inexpensive ($20?) pretender, nothing more!! Average is MY score!! — 8 days ago

Hey @Doug Powers , did I tell you to go get a mediocre over-oaked “Super Tuscan “? [checks notes] No, I did not. Plus I’m probably as old as fart as you!
