Blinded, I honestly didn’t think much of it. It just didn’t have any defining character or complexity to stand out in the line up. Found this note off the interweb, which is relevant:

This is a relatively newly planted single vineyard that formerly was the land of the Monks of Vergy, and is situated along the path they took daily to reach the abbey of Saint-Vivant from Vosne-Romanée. It is at a higher elevation and looks down on the famous Grand Cru sites of Vosne Romanee; the soil here is clay limestone.

The wine is characterized by a dense purple color. The taste of wine is fresh, generous, with crisp acidity and a crisp nuances of oak wood. The finish is a little bluff. Aromatic bouquet of wine abounds with tones of ripe and juicy red fruit. — a year ago

Pop and 1 hr slow ox before tasting. On the nose: denser and more tightly wound than the 17, but still darn good: soft earth, a suggestion of coffee toast, black raspberry, soft spiced plum. On the palate: fantastic acidity, blackberry, strawberry leaf, soft, but very bright coffee notes, and finely grained tannin on the finish. This is a village wine, but it definitely seems structured to improve with some short term aging. Yum. — 4 years ago

The ‘16s are still trying to figure themselves out I think. I find that across the board. The 17’s and 15’s are much better at this point. Or at least easier to drink.

From the Meritage Wine Market in Encinitas 110$. Interesting that the rating for this white burgh is all over the place. However this is very nice! Pears, hazelnut and ripe apples. Honey. A nice white burgh perhaps a touch too rich and big at 14%. Drink now. — a month ago
