Donnachiara – “Resilienza” – Beneventano Falanghina – 2023, Beneventano IGT – Campania – Italy 🇮🇹
Overview
A vibrant Falanghina-based blend from Campania that showcases the grape’s natural brightness and aromatic lift, complemented by small amounts of indigenous white varieties for added dimension. The “Resilienza” line focuses on purity and freshness, with no malolactic fermentation to preserve acidity and precision. Compared to the 2022 vintage, the 2023 shows noticeably brighter acidity and a more refreshing overall profile.
Aromas & Flavors
Expressive and aromatic, with tropical fruit, citrus zest, and stone fruit at the core. Subtle floral notes enhance freshness, while ripe pear and a touch of melon add softness and charm.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with crisp, lively acidity and a refined, clean texture. The absence of MLF keeps the wine energetic and focused, leading to a fresh, mouthwatering finish with slightly elevated brightness in this vintage.
Food Pairings
Seafood risotto, grilled octopus, lemon-based pasta dishes, fresh cheeses, and Mediterranean appetizers.
Verdict
A beautifully executed Falanghina blend that leans into freshness and drinkability while maintaining complexity. The 2023 vintage stands out for its enhanced vibrancy and refreshing character, elegant, expressive, and incredibly enjoyable.

Very nice and crisp - but nothing that popped for me. I prefer reds so I’m biased. — 5 years ago
Lemony mineral goodness. — 6 years ago
Deep, dark ruby coloration. On the nose, cocoa powder, spice, prune and cherry. On the palate, medium to full body, cherry, strawberry, leather, chocolate and a long finish dominated by chocolate notes. Still exhibiting strong tannins. — 6 years ago
Brighht, rich, fruit-driven nose with notes of peach, pineapple and smoky oak. Lively and crisp with just a hint of creaminess on the palate. Beautifully rich with flavors of peach, apricot, guava and pineapple with just a hint of spice and oak on the back end. The finish is incredibly long with lingering spice and fruit. — 11 years ago

Pear, some honeysuckle, or maybe its melon I'm picking up. Good acidity. — 4 years ago
Dark garnet purple with near black core. Abundant nose and full-bodied palate yield juicy (medium plus) acidity) blueberry ,and blackberry cobbler. Medium firm, supple tannins in the mix making for a classic Italian food wine. Enjoy with beef dishes, game, or a high end pizza Margherita. Drink now through 2027. — 5 years ago

Donnachiara – Greco di Tufo – 2021
Greco di Tufo DOCG – Campania – Italy 🇮🇹
Overview
A more expressive and intense take on Greco di Tufo from the 2021 vintage, showcasing the varietal’s natural structure, depth, and aging potential. This DOCG-level wine leans into richness and tension, delivering a more evolved and character-driven profile.
Aromas & Flavors
Layered and pronounced with ripe stone fruit, citrus peel, and hints of almond and dried herbs. Subtle smoky and mineral nuances reflect the volcanic soils, now slightly more integrated with time.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with elevated tension and a textured, almost grippy feel. Bright acidity keeps it lifted, while the added bottle age brings a more rounded, cohesive structure and a long, persistent finish.
Food Pairings
Grilled seafood, roasted chicken, shellfish, creamy pasta dishes, or aged cheeses. Also great with richer Mediterranean flavors.
Verdict
A bold and character-driven Greco di Tufo, expressive, complex, and structured. The 2021 vintage adds a layer of integration and depth, making it both serious and highly rewarding.
Did You Know?
Greco di Tufo is one of Southern Italy’s few white DOCGs and is known for its ability to age, developing nutty, honeyed, and mineral complexity over time.
🍷 Personal Pick
This is my “textured white with presence”, when I want something layered, slightly evolved, and far from simple. Cheers! — 3 months ago
