Pop and pour. A breathtaking medium ruby red color. On the nose: cloves, cinnamon, cherry, lemon rind, slight scorched earth. Taste: smooth, juicy, layered wine with tart cherry, earthy mushrooms, orange peel, spice, and a gravelly tea finish. YUM! West Slope my fav of the Donum lineup. — 4 years ago

Donum, magnum, 2012 is a limited edition produced from their three finest blocks; once and only bottle named the “1870.” A nice ruby red with definite signs of bricking giving it an amber like color. Cherry-raspberry fruit jumps from the glass with scents of floral, spice, a pine forest floor, vanilla and sandal-wood cedar with a lingering smokiness at the end giving the pinot a well rounded nose. Taste - cherry, blackberry and raspberry fruit flavors, pepper and tea spices with subtle anise and a licorice earthy medium finish. Tannins are still present but blended. Be interesting to see how it opens up throughout the evening. — 5 years ago
Found this gem from last year in the cellar. Lucky me! So pretty and so sumptuous! Just enough fruit, totally balanced and integrated. — 6 years ago

In magnum...its going to be a fun Friday night! Hour decant. A brilliant medium ruby red color. On the nose: jumping from the glass are cherry, wet leaves, a vanilla strawberry, smokey earth, and a little floral. Taste: A creamy, fresh medium plus body wine with cherry, orange peel, minerals, earthy, and a spiced dark plum long finish with just a hint of tannins still kicking. YUM. — 5 years ago

Color: very deep red garnet with no sediments. Dark cherry plum floral and cream vanilla nose, with floating scents of spice and very subtle cedar. Taste — dark cherry cola hits the pallet with a bang—luscious and bold! Mid pallet brings out the spices and cream vanilla flavors with a long chocolate espresso finish. A nice structure and could lay down for awhile still. A favorite Pinot of mine! — 6 years ago
A delicious experience with this Pinot from Donum Decanted 3 hours. Color- clear red garnet. Nose-Cherry red licorice and hints of strawberry spice. Big mouth full of red cherry tart fruit, warm feel in the mouth and a long finish of baking spices and slightly smokey. Tannins present but smooth and could still integrate more. A wonderful delightful and nicely structured wine. A definite way to elevate your day or evening. — 6 years ago
2014 - year of the horse

Happy New Year Delectable!
It's a pinot noir new year (Clos De La Roche, Donum west slope pinot, Schramsberg blanc de noir) with an oven roasted chicken dinner!
Double decant and pour the Clos de la Roche. A formidable medium ruby red color. On the nose: spicy cherry, forest floor, slight menthol, raspberry, mushrooms. Taste: smooth, creamy, lush, structured wine with cherry, gamey, minerals, and a spiced strawberry medium plus dry still some tannins kicking finish. Nice start to the night. Cheers! — 5 years ago

Finally took a drive and picked up our Donum quarterly allocation....stopped at Mustards Grill in Napa for some dinner takeout! Order anything it's all great food!!
Double decant and pour. A fetching medium red color. On the nose: very fragrant...strawberry and more strawberry with floral, woodsy, and cherry notes. Taste: a restrained, Burgundy style with cherry, wet leaves, herbs, tea, and gravel. A dry wine (med acidity) with a medium plus finish. — 6 years ago

Medium ruby color. Aromas of a fresh cut cedar, dried flowers and red fruit. Great flavors of cranberries, raspberries and red plums. Slightly rustic structure with a solid tannic core and great acidity. A long lingering finish of red fruit and cinnamon. A really nice wine. — 6 years ago
Love the work that the winemaker does, but this was my first Cattleya. Lifted profile with a touch of spice...assuming some whole cluster usage. Perfumed potpourri, spicy red fruits, and black cherry skin on the nose. Medium acidity with stemmy/herbaceous notes alongside violets, more black cherries, underripe plum and peppercorn. — 7 years ago
