Fender Wines

Page River

Private Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

This wine doesn't scream Napa, but it's very nice. And a bargain. Sharp acid cuts through soft berries and tasteful oak influences. This is one to try again with some marbled steak.

Sounds like a lead in to Joe’s Garage by Frank Zappa.

Bridesmaid Wines

Bridesmaid Sémillon Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Very fine and pretty. Not like that "beat-you-about-the-head-with-a-boat-fender" cab that I had yesterday. It's got slender cigar box and herbal tones, and I like it a-plenty. — 12 years ago

Il Chiosso

Terre Moreniche Ghemme Nebbiolo 2009

Cherry and mint, which creates a medicinal feel. I like medicinal and churchy wines. It’s black cherries. Not so ripe anymore, but drying up a bit. You can taste the cherry pit/flower cyanide. The cherry gets sweeter with air. The mint has a savory quality like mountain mint, with touches of thyme/sage/oregano. There’s a nuttiness, pine nut or chestnut, following the herbal scents. Blood, geranium and maybe peony. Air makes it more like lilac and violet. There’s a refinement to this wine that’s different than the typical nebbiolo roses and tar thing, the way a fender plays differently than a Gibson does. Some rustic wood spice on the finish, and drying tannins, like running through pine trees. Damn good stuff. Slightly wild or alpine, stays funky even when in bloom. Good acid, could live a lot longer and probably turn into a really baroque bottle. For under $30 it’s hard to beat this, I’d like to try their other wines. — 6 years ago

Altavins Viticoltors

Terra Alta Domus Pensi 2013

Here I am in Zion National Park. While my pizza was being made in a wood-fired brick oven, I'm listening to a kitchen staff member playing a 12 string Fender acoustic guitar IN THE KITCHEN while sipping an Alta Vins. Domus Pensi 2013. Delicious blend. Paired with a roasted vegetable pizza.....sublime. No one expect d this. Buy this wine. Please. You'll love it. — 9 years ago

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC)

La Tâche Pinot Noir 1957

So that happened again. Another relic from a bygone age. Unfamiliar vintage but hey why not?

Acidity high. Tonnes of secondary odors, a very dirty, dirty girl indeed. Mossy, damp, barn yardy goodness. Colour still decent, definitey a rusty tinge to it, much like the fender of the chevy Malibu robbing the 7-11 beside you now.

Dark cooked cherries, and a touch of oxidation. Meh. Original cork. Still rather fun. A touch of ferniness. Is that a word? Consumed @northforktable w toughchad dec 30/17
