Kukeri

Atlas Peak Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Strong nose of blackberries, black plums, black cherries, light cedar, espresso, light vanilla, chocolates, light earth and tobacco.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, light cedar, earth, herbs, licorice, chocolates, black pepper, spices, black tea and light espresso.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This 5 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Atlas Peak in Napa Valley is starting to drink beautifully. Rich and nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel. Elegant and complex. Fruit forward and entertaining.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years, and showing good potential to become a 94 point wine.

Needed 90 minutes of airtime to open up properly, so be patient.

A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak.

A blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon with 3% Petit Verdot. Aged in (40% new) French and American Oak barrels for 15 months. A tiny production of only 900 bottles.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

1000 Stories

Small Batch Bourbon Barrel Aged California Zinfandel 2017

Not really a "purist" wine but who cares?... Those guys are a bunch of Jackwagons. It's best to not think of this as a wine and more as a delightful hybrid alcoholic beverage. It is really obvious that the bourbon barrels are heavily influencing the flavor here and that is right up my alley. I wouldn't want every wine to be like that but what this one does, it does well. It's really in a completely different category than a straight-up Zin and should be judged accordingly. — 5 years ago

Apothic

Inferno Red Blend 2020

Inspired by the “Apotheca”, a mysterious place where some of the earliest wine was blended and stored, Apothic wines offers a truly unique wine experience.

A red blend emerges from the flames, creating a most unexpected and masterful encounter.

Paying tribute to a time-honored craft, this wine has been aged for 60 days in whiskey barrels, creating bold notes of red and dark fruit with layers of maple and spice.

The Green Room Grenache Noir Syrah 2016

Mid Crimson in colour with a slight cloudiness. Fresh plummy skinnsy aromas - also notes of freshly cut Guava said the wife. Stems and stalks have been included in the ferment with 88 days on Skins. A 92/8 Grenache/Syrah Blend. Light to medium bodied palate of jubey fruit pastilles - like grape juice. Medium intensity with almost zero tannins. Designed to be drunk young with gusto.! The Green Room being a surfing term for being under the lip in the Barrel - Taras Ochota being a keen surfer would have been in the Green Room many times in Barrels off Mexico. A delicious natural wine - no need to cellar. — 8 years ago

Viña Tondonia Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2009

Day 2. Different is trending here. Did a little digging and pulled this gem.

The 2009 Viña Tondonia Reserva, a blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacho and 5% each Mazuelo and Graciano, matured in used American oak barrels for six years.

Elegance and value. Lively and fresh. Lot’s of life left for this one. Not a bad start for the year.
