I’m rolling with the punches after our weekly “no drink” fasting. Fridays take on a whole new meaning as a result.
Well balanced, lifted and a pure express of the varietal. Oak treatment is in the foreground, acidity is a little dumb, while hazelnuts and marzipan complete what is a tour de force. — 4 years ago
Aloha Champagne Fridays (this is the inaugural occasion). This is superb for around $20. The label lets your know this is dry all the way. 100% Chardonnay. Yellow apples and light caramel notes. Friends who take my reviews seriously (should proceed with caution) might prefer the Grüner Brut (Szigeti from Austria) from a little while back at this price point. But this is darn good. — 8 years ago

Nah,
Last Friday was our normal 4th Friday happy hour at the storage facility, but since this month had 5 Fridays, why not keep the party going?!
I saw cab franc and immediately went to this. Hello gorgeous! I haven't had much from Jonata, but I know the pedigree. Black tea, black cherry, toasted almonds, blackberries, cassis, small bit of oak at this point. Stunning! @Carl Fischer — 9 years ago

Such a baby! Still needs time in the bottle. Decanting helps, but only so much. Like a young Bordeaux, this can go an easy 20+ yrs from now. Very dark and heavy in the glass. Tight. Blackberries, black currant, cassis, cedar, olive oil, herbs. Heavy on the palate as it's working its way to integrating fully. Hold! — 9 years ago
I like this one. Would pair great with Sushi on Fridays. Low concentration. Black Cherry on nose. Smooth and earthy, but light. Short finish. — 2 years ago

Cherry pie with vanilla ice cream. Talk about delicious! Wow. Almost pop and pour. No note was too dominant or in your face. Everything felt in harmony. Nose and palate mimicked each other with oak, cherry, birch and sandalwood and black licorice. — 9 years ago

Dried cherries, apricot, tiny bit of orange marmalade. It's by no means over the hill, but the palate and finish aren't lengthy...I'd drink up. Still, at 21yrs, hard to say this isn't impressive. — 9 years ago
Early gamay, Lapierre style. The dress is superb on translucent raspberry notes. Fresh nose and mouth, fruity at 110% with this very specific aerial concentration of carbonic maceration that brings a floral exuberance to the nose without tannins. Blindly, we would be very annoyed to say with certainty that it is a red wine, as the cursor is placed on other landmarks than tannins. This does not prevent a certain matter that gives chewing. Serve refreshed and airy. Very nice treat. Note revised upwards: open on Mondays, tasted on Fridays, the wine has held up admirably, keeping its greed and gaining in breadth. A sign that says a lot about the authenticity of production.
Gamay primeur esprit Lapierre. — 4 years ago

Fridays are for Franc! And I. LOVE. THIS. WINE. I could not believe the aromatics that exploded from the bottle when I pulled the cork. Seriously it was like there was a blueberry pie baking in the kitchen. Decanted for an hour or so. Deep magenta in the glass. Loads of Cherry and blueberry on the palate mingle with vanilla, chocolate, herbs, and earth - very rich, but so incredibly balanced at the same time. I’ve been a longtime fan of Detert wines and this very well may be my favorite vintage of their Franc to date. I’m just wowed. Can’t wait to revisit this again and see how it evolves. Really well done @Tom Garrett (as always). — 8 years ago

The 2010 CdPs are killing it right now. The structure on this shows that it is just now beginning to start to climb towards its peak. Decadent chocolate, smoked meats, rhubarb pie. In 3-5 yrs, you could sip this through a straw! — 9 years ago

If you have this, open it now! What a gorgeous drinking window! Candied tobacco. Plum, cinnamon and a tad bit of tar. All cylinders right now. — 9 years ago

Aubert Pinot 😍. Much better after it has warmed up. Black cherry, cola, plum, amazing acidity and a black tea type note. I usually enjoy Aubert wines with a bit of age on them...this wine in 3-5 yrs will be heavenly. — 9 years ago
