2018 vintage on 10/19/25 with homemade bake rigatoni. Nice cab that went well with the red sauce. — 4 months ago
Another master piece wine by Benoit Touquette, one of Napa Valley’s most sought-after winemakers, and now a partner at Realm Cellars. From Bordeaux to Napa, he has the finesse and the winemaking precision to craft very powerful wines. He sources the fruits from the Missouri Hopper Vineyard, owned by the Beckstoffer’s and it is strategically located right next to Yountville facing the west side of the Napa floor and protected by the Mayacamas range.
The Fait-Main is a truly expression from one of the most ideal locations known for deep gravel soils, a perfect environment for Cab Sauv and this V.2021 has a lot of years ahead of it to keep evolving.
Super intense and highly aromatic, abundant of blackcurrant and mulberries. Concentrated red fruits and graphite hit the palate right upon entrance. Earthy and texturized on the mid range of the palate. Savory, velvety and crazy silky on the end. Polished tannins, balanced and elegant to the last drop. It is worthy on every penny. Cheers! — 9 months ago
Happy New Year! 🍷
This was Missouri Hopper before they put it on the label.
Missouri is a vineyard that is an earthy mineral buffet. This bottle is as well a dry herb assortment. Excellent dark, ripe fruits.
While the 16 is very good, the 18 is a forget about bottle that will continue to improve for many years.
I follow Winemaker’s and this one is Helen Keplinger! Enough said.

Needed lots of time to breathe. Probably should have waited another decade — 8 months ago
Herbal, floral- a beautiful Cabernet. Huge, but not To Kalon- my fave of the Beckstoffer vineyards. — 10 months ago
2016 vintage. Last tasted in May 2022. At that time, the wine had shed much of the baby fat and gone leaner bodied. Ummm…this bottle added the weight/body back on along with the overt fruit missing for the last year back into the hopper. The most Jekyll/Hyde BDX I’ve ever had the pleasure to taste multiple x’s. Have zero idea what to expect on the next visit but thinking it won’t be boring. 2.20.23 — 3 years ago
Williams Selyem – Cabernet Sauvignon – 2021
Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard – Napa Valley – USA 🇺🇸
Overview
A true gem from the historic Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard, one of Napa Valley’s most coveted heritage sites. Located at the narrowest point of the valley floor near Yountville, this site benefits from slightly cooler temperatures, lending freshness, lift, and remarkable balance to the powerful 2021 vintage. Williams Selyem, known for finesse-driven winemaking, brings an elegant touch to a vineyard famed for depth and intensity.
Aromas & Flavors
Blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum layered with graphite, cassis, tobacco leaf, and dark cocoa. Subtle notes of cedar, violets, and warm spice add dimension. Deep, expressive, and aromatically precise.
Mouthfeel
Powerful yet polished. Full-bodied with super-silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, structured finish. Dense fruit concentration meets freshness, a hallmark of Missouri Hopper. Approachable now but built for graceful aging.
Food Pairings
Ribeye, lamb chops, grilled portobello mushrooms, roasted short ribs, or aged cheddar.
Verdict
An exceptional Cabernet that stands out even among other Missouri Hopper bottlings. Intensely flavorful, deeply structured, and beautifully refined, the kind of wine that will reward patience but already delivers immense pleasure. A truly special addition to the cellar.
Did You Know?
Missouri Hopper is one of Napa’s original “first-growth” sites, planted in the late 1800s and now part of Beckstoffer’s heritage vineyard program. Its location along the Yountville corridor creates a cooler pocket on the valley floor, resulting in Cabernet with remarkable balance, aromatic lift, and longevity.
🍷 Personal Pick Highlight
I’ve tasted several vintages of Missouri Hopper from different producers, but this Williams Selyem expression stands out for its finesse and purity. Thrilled to have this beauty aging in the cellar. — 2 months ago
Lively, medium plus tannins, great color , some fruit. Enjoyed. Have a 2017 in the hopper too — 2 years ago
This saw some time in oak and was much more complex than the Dolcetto. This was also finished with natural cork as opposed to aggomerated/Diam. When I asked about it the winery representative said they mix and use both in the hopper at bottling which kind blew my mind... — 3 years ago
