Nice bottle, good sale price (40 for 10off). Almost too acidic by the end of the bottle. :( — 2 months ago

2010 vintage. Not a fave producer by any means but a fave plot. Opened and decanted with a small amount of sed. Verry aromatic throughout. Didn't want to open this but the other/first red Burg offering/option was underwhelming so this got pressed into service. Light medium/medium body. Plenty of complexities in both the nose and mouth. Excellent acidity baseline to administrate the proceedings. This can easily go another decade. Didn't have enough time to experience this properly unfolding but the time that was spent was thoroughly enjoyable. 10.2.26. — 15 hours ago

Few bubbles in the glass. Bruised golden apple, golden pear, slightly reductive / sherry-like. Reminded me a lot of the Peter Lauer 1987 Riesling sekt, but with fewer bubbles. An interesting but not crowd-pleasing Champagne. @ Persona, Stockholm — 4 months ago
Clos Saint‑Jacques is often hailed as the “Musigny” of Gevrey‑Chambertin. It combines the signature power and structure of Gevrey with the elegance and finesse of Vosne‑Romanée, and Armand Rousseau’s bottling has always been remarkably consistent.
2004 was a challenging vintage—a weak year in which many grapes failed to reach full ripeness. Now that it has entered its drinking window, it opens up quite nicely. This is not a flamboyant style; instead, it leans more toward herbaceous notes and bay leaf, with hints of florals and red cherry. It has a mineral quality, yet without the saline or briny character often found in other Gevrey vineyards. The acidity is well‑balanced. The overall bouquet is delicately fresh, reserved rather than exuberant, yet persistent, and it doesn’t evolve dramatically over time. — a month ago
Gorgeous, silky, elegant, ripe, fresh, and energetic. Melts in the mouth. Just lovely. — 3 months ago

Over three hours this opened beautifully, gaining depth, flesh and amplitude while keeping terrific freshness. The nose became increasingly brambly and spicy, with damson, moss, forest underbrush and deep cherry fruit. The palate filled out into a velvety, juicy, richly fruited expression, with the classic 2023 chord progression from sour cherry through sweet and mid-season cherry, substantial ripe tannins and excellent acidity. Forward and generous for Fichots, but still unmistakably structured and site-driven, with a long, tangy finish and real depth. Delicious now with air, but clearly built to evolve.
Day two and this has fully arrived. The tannins have melted into the wine and become beautifully textural, while the fruit is now deep, luxurious and completely seamless, with terrific freshness keeping all that richness alive. Gorgeous amplitude, purity and balance, with the classic brambly, spicy, woodland Fichots character still underneath. I gave this 9.5 back in May, and after day two I see no reason whatsoever not to put it right back there. — 14 days ago
