Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Deep purple in color with a short purple rim.

Fruity nose and full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Showing black fruits, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco, espresso, chocolates, earth, light vegetables, herbs and peppercorn.

This 8-year-old Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon is drinking very nicely right out of the bottle, and even better after 90 minutes of airtime.

Rich and fruit forward. Elegant and complex. Spicy and entertaining.

Peaking now and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.

Wine Spectator 90 points. Wine Enthusiasts 92 points.

Easy drinking and good by itself as a sipping wine. Will also pair nicely with barbecue meats.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$45 (current vintage).

Château Mouton Rothschild

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1985

No problems noted despite the age. Very good, but not outstanding. The nose was great at about 30 minutes-1 hour in the glass. The nose seemed to fade over the evening, but still very nice. Acidity is notable. Earthy flavors, tobacco, dried fruit. Great experience trying a 41 year old vintage! — 8 months ago

Ferguson Commemorative Reserve Red Blend 2013

Smooth and sophisticated, this wine has excellent balance of fruits and acidity, with a hint of spice and pepper. The oak is sparingly applied so the flavors really pop. — 3 years ago

Paul, Really sorry to hear that and glad you pulled through! Wine can be a nice recovery enjoyment. Hopefully your sense of smell and taste has come back. I had a fortunate quick fight with COVID but my sense of smell took a hit for a while… elegant and subtle wines don’t do it for me anymore… hahaha. Glad to have you back!

Columbia Valley Sémillon 2022

Peach, dried apricot, lemon and orchard fruit flavors. Mild fine-grained skin astringency on finish. Decent acid, well balanced. Nice stone fruit aftertaste with length. Fine to sip or match with food not requiring high acid wines. — 6 months ago

Wow, this continues to be one of my favorite Provence rosés, ripe strawberry, cold peach, watermelon rind, damp limestone, white pepper; with +3Y of age we're at peak enjoyment.

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this afternoon with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading Julia ADOLPHE (Makeshift Castle), STRAUSS songs with orchestra (Muttertändelei, Opus 43, No. 2 / Wiegenlied, Opus 41, No. 1 / Waldseligkeit, Opus 49. At this price point I don’t think that Napa Cab can touch this quality and appeal. Gives what Cabernet drinkers want and saves you the extra $10-20 you may pay elsewhere — 6 months ago

Keyneton Euphonium Barossa Shiraz Blend 2018

From the 41 wine lineup tasted blind at the Downs Club to find the new Members Premium Red - this was a late entry at No. 41. My brief notes when tasted blind “Sweet Red Fruited Perfume. A mid weight balanced palate with lovely ripe black fruits. I like this. “ In my top 5 from the initial tasting. Unfortunately not much love from the other tasters present much to their dismay when its identity was revealed. A high quality blind tasting as most of the candidates came from the excellent 2018 vintage. 65% Shiraz, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 3% Merlot. — 3 years ago
