Sweet almost sour, finish is strong and has cherry taste — a year ago
This merlot is amazing, does kinda drink like a Cab...but holy smokes is it smooth! Could also be the time laid down on this one. Beautiful big red fruit on the nose, even nice earthy notes on the nose. That pucker on the finish to remind you it's a merlot, but dang its delicious! — 5 years ago
Tasting notes during visit to the winery where absolutely everything is done in-house by hand; preserving centuries old winemaking traditions. In the Tondonia offering one can really appreciate the time and patience dedicated to crafting this wine. The wine evolves to a rustic yet graceful profile with strong notes of dark berries with slight oak and dark chocolate. On the palate the wine is bliss, medium bodied, fully integrated, with balanced acidity and a long finish.
The juice is fermented in old large wooden “tinas,” then transferred to American oak barrels (made in house to medium toast specifications), stored underground in their +100 year old cellars for at least a year. After that it is bottled and stored in the same underground cellars and finally released about ten years later. Learning about their curated winemaking process was inspiring. — 9 months ago
Easy to drink. Soft fruits, gentle. Nice Greek wine :) — 3 years ago
Even better than the crazy-good 2007, the 2015 La Sangre de Jonata is sheer perfection in a glass and up with the finest Syrahs ever made in California! Checking in as a blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier, aged in barrel, its saturated purple color is followed by out of this world aromatics black raspberries, smoked earth, graphite, game, violets and freshly crushed rock-like minerality. — 10 months ago
Mature Syrah exactly as it should be. Patience was rewarded. Tannins softened and the super bright fruit of youth given way to dry versions of themselves with black pepper and meat still showing through with leather and earth. — 2 years ago
Medium to full bodied, lots of berries and just enough oak taste to balance out the fruitiness and berries. — 4 years ago
