Fresh apricot, glazed almond, nutmeg, and cardamon spice. Layered with honeysuckle, pear, and green apple. There is a short crust, pear tart character on the nose. Still so grab and lively on the palate. Stone fruit, orchard fruit, toasted almonds, and Danish butter cookies. Linear acidity with bright, zesty finish with pithy lemon notes and tart apple. Lingering finish with a touch of warm spice. Waited a while to pop this one - it was well worth the wait! — 3 years ago
Bought in 2005 at the bargain price of $22. I’d been saving it. Worth the wait. It was absolutely delicious, old school, refined, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon at its peak. If I could only drink one wine for the rest of my life, this would be it (assuming availability). — 5 years ago
The 15’ bottling sees Petit Verdot leading this Bordeaux blend at 32%, with 26% CS, 26% Merlot, 13% CF, and 3% Malbec.
Complex and deep nose of blackberry, cassis, fig, dry pine cone, dark soy source, butterscotch, thyme, black pepper, with hint of violet. The palate, while delicious and smooth, lacks the depth I expected. Finely grained tannins lead to a long peppery finish.

Mmmm....better. 1999 was a meh vintage to most critics. I find it has evolved to better things with this much time in bottle.
The nose reveals, ruby and candied; blackberries, black cherries, black plum skin, black raspberries, raspberries, poached cherries & strawberries. Touch cooked green bell pepper, mixed berry licorice, anise to black licorice, used leather, saddle-wood to cedar, dark, moist, black earth, limestone, stones, graphite, vanilla, cinnamon stick, clove, nutmeg and dark spice, coffee, dark chocolate with fresh & withering, dark, red, blue and purple flowers.
The body is just full. The tannins are soft, round, chewy and tarry. The structure, tension, length and balance are pretty good for 99. ruby and candied; blackberries, black cherries, black plum skin, black raspberries, raspberries, poached cherries & strawberries. more cooked green bell pepper on the palate, mixed berry licorice, anise to black licorice, used leather, saddle-wood to cedar, dark, moist, black earth, limestone, stones, graphite, vanilla, cinnamon stick, clove, nutmeg and dark spice, coffee, dark chocolate with fresh & withering, dark, red, blue and purple flowers. The acidy is nice. The finish is elegant, well balanced but, not as rich as other good vintages Palmer. It is spicy and persists minutes on the palate.
Photos of; Chateau Palmer, their barrel room, a photo of their vineyard soil structure-if you didn’t know where all that earthiness comes from, a picture is worth a thousand words and their tasting room. — 7 years ago
Okay - fine. It’s a good, probably great wine. Overpriced? Yes. Is it worth the money? No it’s not. Opus is filled with pretentious douchbags? Double yes. But this is a well-made wine bridging a gap between Napa and Boudreaux. Dusty nose with menthol, earl grey tea, tobacco, vanilla, flowers, cassis, and creamy dark fruits. It has a really nice velvety finish. — 8 years ago
Have not had a bottle from the winery for a long time. I believe this used to have the single “Lock Vineyard” designation. Not sure why it was removed as the fruits are still 100% from the vineyard.
Quite different than the ‘16 Retro Syrah, this is powerful with dark chocolate and licorice underpinning the ripe dark fruits such a plum and black currant. Rich and dense on the palate with long candied finish. Equally delicious. — 7 months ago
Agree with those who describe the finesse in this reserve. Long open but worth the wait every time. apparently higher in sangiovese than other vintages and it works just fine. Really nice Antinori offering! — 5 years ago
It was worth waiting on this. All the bit was gone and was replaced with real earthy body. Exceptionally different wine when it gets older. — 6 years ago
Opened the 2003 on March 5, 2020. Spectacular with excellent fruit and no Tanin. Worth the wait! — 6 years ago
When I purchased this wine the reports were that it was too tannic to drink for years. Now more than 30 years since the vintage it still has some strong backbone. There are red fruits and some cedar. It drinks light and smooth. A wine worth the wait. — 7 years ago
Worth scouting for... Starting to get that aged quality Cab characteristic. Showing off super hard right now. This wine, we're it human, which I am thankful it is not, would be the popular Johnny-football-hero type back in High School. A little too young to drink, hangs out with all of the cheerleaders, can deliver a mean wedgie and calls alot of attention to himself. — 8 years ago
This was tasty worth the extra $ — 2 months ago
Not bad worth trying with — 5 years ago
And that’s why BF is so worth it - 12 years in and it hasn’t even peaked yet. Beautiful. — 6 years ago
14 year old gran reserva paired with grilled lamb chops and manchego salad. Full body, decanted, improved over time, dry, berries, oak, vanilla spice, peppercorn. Long finish, probably worth storing for several years. $38 13.5% abv. — 7 years ago
Beautiful wine even I don’t think it worth the price. However the vintage 2014 has a huge potential — 7 years ago

Dark fruit and tar on the nose. Forest floor/wet leaves, espresso, vanilla, big fruit, spicy finish. — a month ago
