This was tons of fun to try to pair, and to blend with!! What a joy to have this made and available so locally. — 7 years ago
Like most of Dickson's wines, there's a little bit of VA (and it tends to become more pronounced the longer the wine sits open). However, other than the slight VA this was a real joy to drink. Totally unique and happy that someone is making wines of this caliber in Texas. — 10 years ago
Paul Bridgeman does it right! This is solid and tight, yet a joy tonight. Just the right amount of greenery to be pleasant with the fine fruit and its long, savory finish. — 11 years ago

An off vintage but a solid effort. Much better than the IX Estate of the same vintage. Thanks Joy!!! — 12 years ago
This bottle brought me tremendous joy. My last bottle a few months back was over the hill and it really bothered me because I felt this could easily go 10+ years when I tasted it on release. This is a perfect example of there are no great wines just great bottles. Lovely scents of apple, lime and vanilla. A wonderfully integrated palate with a finish that makes you think premier cru. — a year ago

Had the ‘16 about a year ago, tried again. For more than 4 decades, the Chappellet family has been crafting wines from fruit cultivated on steep, rocky slopes of Napa’s Pritchard Hill. Aged 8 months on French oak, (33% new) in its lees. Aromas of ripe stone fruits, citrus, honey & oaky scents. On the palate layers of fruit, apple, lemon & peach with balanced acidity & gentle toasty oak. Long smooth finish ending with fruit and oak tones, a bit creamy. Very well done. A joy to drink. Still tasting great! — 6 years ago
This is one of my go-to weekday wines. White peach flesh, under ripe pear and wet rock on the nose. Honeydew melon, lime rind and rocks covered in flowers on the palate, the fruit is so well balanced with the acidity and minerality, it's a joy. The finish is clean but reminiscent of these flavors with an almost honeyed echo. Exceptional wine for twice the price of what it retails for. — 10 years ago
The 1992 Volcanic Hill is finally shedding its wall of tannins and revealing gobs of fruit, earth and integrated spice. A pure joy to drink. Humming along at this stage, thinking it has reached its peak of pleasure. — 11 years ago
Voted WOTN for good reason. This has been a bucket list wine for me. Some sections of this famous vineyard were planted in 1860 but all of the vines are ridiculously old. It’s bombastic and really stands out from the crowd. Very expressive both on the nose and on the palate. Full bodied and multi layered. Creamy and rich texture. Dark berries, plums, coffee, cigar, orange peel, eucalyptus, soy, cigar box and an array of oriental spices. Probably at a peak right now, such a joy to drink. — 3 years ago
What a joy to drink. Fresh no- but complex yes. Still has mild fruit aromatics with acidity that keeps you interested. Light gold color and a nice compact mouth feel and finish. A compliment to soup and light tapas. — 5 years ago
This was a pleasant surprise. When first opened, there was a distinct prune aroma and flavor, so I was concerned it was over the hill and/or cooked, give me the vintage. But after 3+ hours of decanting it was beautiful. The prunes and age were gone, and just left dark dried fruits, plenty of acidity and tannins were still present, and made it a joy to drink. Not even a hint of browning on the rim of the color. — 6 years ago
Balanced and bright. Joy in a bottle. — 10 years ago
Aromas leap from the glass; showing slight develop an indications of suntan year with prominent petrol and rubber, otherwise is all things citrus with lime, green apple, white grapefruit and a touch of elderflower. Plenty of drive and concentration on the palate, a joy to drink — 10 years ago
No comment.... speechless.
