White and red wine at the same time… in this economy?? — 4 years ago
Great full body wine. Packs the kick of cab. Spicy and not too sweet. Good finish in back of mouth. Buy again. Bought at Bonnie Brae, Xander rec. — 4 years ago
Tasted semi-blind and wrote down the same thing I did for the 2018: it smells like church! I’m trying to figure out why I wrote it, but the minerality is similar to what you smell when you enter an old white marble church. Maybe some of the florals too?

Dark fruit. Very slightly sweet. Smooth mouth feel. Chocolate notes. — 7 years ago
Funky nose of lemon, allspice and sulfur. Light-medium bodied. Beguiling on the palate. Lemon curd, green apple and slightly oxidized in a good way. — 8 months ago
Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, not Pinot Gris. Had a glass of this with dessert - no written notes again. Truly unctuous and delicious. Ripe pear and quince notes with low acid and profound intensity. A petrochemical/paraffin note. Made at the winery where we are having lunch. An excellent effort for a dessert wine from Montalto. Simply put, just delicious to drink. Enhanced by a plate of red wine braised short ribs made it even more enjoyable. — 5 years ago

Even though Montalto Estate is not based at Red Hill this block from which the fruit was sourced is pretty much in the spiritual home of Mornington with neighbours like Main Ridge Estate close by. Aromatics of Rose petals, red cherry and Sous Bois. Palate is delicious and intense bordering on profound. Rich red fruits, earthy, with a supple finish - the local Red Hill signature if you like. A fabulous Mornington Peninsula Pinot, not dissimilar to the Main Ridge Estate Half Acre we had recently. Luckily I have one left which I will leave for a couple of years if I have the willpower! — 9 months ago
I have no idea(yet) of the grapes in this.
The label says the vines are up to 140 yrs.
N: Lots of blood, tobacco, saline qualities. Poured blind, one may think an earthy burg that’s young. Some dark berried fruit. Liquorice.
P: Very delicate, much lighter on the palate than the nose would lead. Open for an hour, no tannic grip yet. Lots of woodland flavors. Tempered ( my guess) by an Atlantic clime. Easy , yet 14°
Glad it came home with me.

Good wine easy to drink had with steak — 4 years ago
The wine appears as a very pale yellow in the glass. Its nose suggests more citrus and minerals than flowers and fruit. The aromas come across as a savory salinity, not the dainty sweetness which afflicts many Pinot Grigio wines. The palate follows suit, with a bit of the sea in the flavor profile that centers largely on limes, lemons and grapefruit. The finish is medium long and the minerals are the lasting impression. The acidity is zippy and fresh enough for seafood and salad pairings. — 5 years ago

¡excelente! saludos — 7 years ago
