Pale straw with green hints . Zesty and fresh on the nose , with lime cordial , beeswax , white flowers , crushed chalk . On the palate this has a real mineral touch , with chalk and limestone , complementing the lime and citrus notes. Good creaminess on the palate too , showing a touch of development. Fresh lively acidity , good length lightly waxy finish. — 5 days ago
Medium deep ruby garnet with a quite wide medium garnet rim . This has quite an open personality with cigar box , earth , grafite and cedar and some spicy cassis underneath. Showing maturity and quite classic in style. On the palate suave and polished , with resolved fine tannins . There is good depth with some sous bois , but mostly mixed summer fruits , earthy dark cherry and grafite. Good length , perfectly balanced alcohol, and lovely salivating freshness . This grows in the glass , showing more facets , at a great moment , without the need for an extended decant . After a while this become a touches more smoky , hints of soy sauce , violet and sea spray. Grafite tinged saline finish . Perfect now , though no rush , best over the next 5-8 years . At Hawksmoor , Liverpool , 26th July . — 12 days ago
Light copper colour, hints of salmon pink , fine constant perlage . On the nose this shows strawberries and cream , sage and some baked bread notes , though is still fresh and lively . On the palate this has lightly spiced strawberry fruit , brown bread , white chocolate , good freshness and some structure . Herbal red fruit tinged , chalky finish of reasonable length. Certainly an interesting and intriguing wine , a well made sparkling that is not Champagne , obviously , but is made in that mould and shows what can be done. Already almost 10 years old this is showing at peak I would imagine , no rush , so drink over the next 3-4 years . Had a ‘home’ here in Florence . — 16 days ago
Médium lemon yellow . On the nose this is quite ripe and slightly tropical with pineapple , peach , ripe citrus , touches of creamy oak and blanched almonds . On the palate this is very well balanced with that a creaminess with good extract and fresh acidity , yellow fruits , lemon , peach , apricot, some herbal , floral hints too . Balanced alcohol and a lightly toasty finish , with good textured length. This is really quite young and will repay moderate ageing , better in 3-4 years and will last well a further 5-10 . — 3 days ago
Medium ruby with quite wide watery ruby rim . Aromatic on the nose with raspberry , rose , spiced orange peel and black cherry . On the palate this is well balanced and quite elegant in style , fresh acidity and suave fine tannins , balanced alcohol . Lots of fresh fruits , strawberry, raspberry and dark cherry , with some spice and chalky minerality. Decent dark cherry tinged finish . Perfect now , don’t know whether this will age particularly well, but from now and over the next 5 years . — 5 days ago
Medium ruby , with a medium wide garnet rim . Cut herbs and some spice on the nose , sage , thyme , porcini and cedar . There is some spiced cherry fruit and rose underneath , this shows some development . On the palate there are spiced red cherries , dried herbs, gaining complexity with time in the glass. Fresh acidity and grippy tannin . Good menthol tinged finish . This is well balanced , though there is still good density the alcohol is balanced. It is showing a bit of development, the aromatics are really inviting and there is good complexity on the palate too. The last glass was the best , showing ample structure and a darker fruit character so I think this will age a bit further the tannins are still a bit noticeable, so from now (with time in the glass or decanter ) and over the next 8-12 years. Noticeably deep colour , deeper than all the others , medium deep ruby quite thin ruby rim . Quite herbal and deep on the nose , with darker fruit profile . Blackberry , dark plum, dark cherry , earthy herbal touches. On the palate this is quite dense and rich with dark cherry , kirsch, blackberry , and a richer frame . Quite gritty but ripe tannins , with balanced acidity . Decent lightly chalky cherry , blackberry, herbal tinged finish . Very different from all others , darker and richer , riper . However , still well made , though not that charming or , dare I say it ‘Burgundian’ , probably as expected . I believe this also needs some time , come back in 5 years and drink over the next 10 or so. — 16 days ago
Medium deep garnet ruby with a narrow garnet rim . Dusty grafite , cedar and cassis , currants , oyster shell , quite deep and classic . On the palate this is quite dense and tannic still , deep dark cassis , herbal tinged cedar and very grafite tinged on the finish . Fresh acidity , but still good mid palate richness and even though the tannins are quite dry and grippy , this is well balanced and relatively generous . Good length on the classic grafite , oyster shell tinged finish. This didn’t need a lot of decanting time to show well , though it certainly changes and improves with time in the glass . Classic in style , but still quite generous for Latour , this is just reaching its drinking window , will continue at this level for another 5-10 years at least and probably more. — 3 days ago
Médium ruby quite light ruby garnet rim . This is pretty aromatic with lots of cedar , dried herbs , some red cherries , touch of liquorice and porcini . The palate is fine boned and elegant in style, but with enough volume of fruit to cover the bones and balanced alcohol . Herbal tinged red cherries , sage , rosemary. Refreshing acidity and slightly gritty , dry tannins . Reasonable length with slightly saline , herbal tinged finish . This is drinking well at the moment , though will continue at this level for at least a further 5-8 years . — 6 days ago

Medium light garnet ruby , quite wide light garnet ruby rim . Some sous bois , but mostly red plum and cherry , touch of red grapefruit also . On the palate this has decent grip and freshness , with red cherry , strawberry , rose , a touch earthy with a sappy , chalky finish and quite reasonable length . This is drinking well now , and wouldn’t want to leave it too much longer even though there is very decent structure for a Bourgogne Rouge , I just wouldn’t want to loose much more of the fruit . From now and over the next 3-4 years. Very commendable for a basic BR, shows good balance and has decent fruit and density on the mid palate — 3 days ago
