Smoky caramel-mocha nose shows broom straw and bamboo, vanilla bean, graphite, tea biscuit, cardamom, cinnamon-apple, attic nutmeg and cilantro. Rich and chocolate-y mouthfeel with warm cinnamon heat is exemplary. First taste puts the dully oaken nose to shame for insufficient suggestion. This thing brings a support beam of heavy oak in abundance. Cedar, pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, allspice, tobacco; the gangs all here. Coffee is the magnet in the middle; two sugars, black, a millisecond before the heavy cream and drizzled caramel. Buckwheat, buckthorn, and dried pineapple are the lightning in this dark storm. Add ginger and dried lime and a drop of Fernet Branca and you’ve nailed it. Don Quixote used to nip this for breakfast. #brandy #cardinalmendoza #spanishbrandy #brandydejerez #soleragranreserva #jerez #sanchezromatehermanos #sanchezromate #grapespirit — 6 years ago
Ink grade in color, with complex black fruit, clover, some cinnamon, smoked meats, this is a big wine that will hold up to any red meat dish, fabulous — 8 years ago
Amazing aromatics. Bravo. — 9 years ago
A surprising rose. Not your average porch pounder. Respectable — 11 years ago
Nice fruity, rustic wine. Tastes like a local village wine. Fresh and fun, and good with Manchego cheese. What Monsignor Quixote would have had on the road. — 4 years ago
Textbook high-end Petite Sirah. Inky, brooding, and well structured. Cracked black pepper, violets, expensive oak, black licorice, and smoky incense. — 5 years ago

Wonderful with family dinner, paired with sous vide prime tri tip. Tasted side by side with 2005 Xabo Quixote Cabernet Sauvignon. The Xabo seemed to have aged better, but both were excellent. — 9 years ago
Too young but still great — 10 years ago
2009 vintage. Dark fruits without assertive tannins, but present nonetheless. Silky smooth finish. — 11 years ago
Its the Las Antenas singular 🌵 👌💪🏻 real tequila, no diffuser or additives like over hyped Casa Amigos & Casa Dragones,
The follow up to the unbelievable first batch of Huerta Singular, the Las Antenas highlights a completely different terroir with the same goal of creating a completely unique example of blanco tequila. The over-ripe pinto Blue Weber agave for this batch was grown entirely in the mineral-laden caliche soils of Vista Hermosa in Michoacán. The ground is rich in calcium carbonate at the high elevation field. At just over 5,000 feet in elevation, the agave was left to ripen in the field after the quixote was cut, resulting in an ultra-ripe "pinto" or painted agave—the pencas discolor as the plant concentrates sugars in the pina. The resulting spirit is one of the most unique expressions of tequila we've ever stocked. Bold mineral character is coupled with tangy citrus peel and vibrant fresh herbs. A truly legendary addition to the Single Huerta line, which seeks to capture the flavors of one single field in the bottle. Distilled in 2018 and rested for two years before bottling at 44.8%. — 4 years ago
Dark, tobacco, good depth, almond aromas, a little anise, not deep, but long finish. Really very good. — 5 years ago
This wine is their tribute to Rioja. So, they called this one "Tilting at Windmills"; which is a reference to Don Quixote. Tilting at Windmills is a blend of; 69% Grenache, 19% Syrah & 18% Cabernet. 40% new oak and 60% neutral. This wine was not racked and stayed on its lees until bottled. On the nose, minty, florals and soft fruits of; blackberries, blueberries, dark cherries, touch of rich dark, earth and dark fresh florals. The palate matches everything in the nose but add strawberries. The body is M & the tannins are M+. Mint really shines on the long finish. The acidity is soft, gentle and mouthwatering. The finish is; long, leaner in body & beautifully elegant. — 9 years ago
This must be mostly Petite Sirah based on the producer, black-as-night color and youthful nature. Table wine so no abv is listed. On day 1 this had a plasticky Band-Aid thing going on that I took for Brett. On day 2 that faded and this opened up nicely. Big lusty dark fruit turning just a bit earthy. Glad I didn't dump it. — 11 years ago
