Nice starter wine for my birthday dinner/evening. Just a classic BdM all around. At first that funk that blew off after about an hour. Then earth, dark berry, leather. This righteous wine was a perfect complement to my wife’s bolognese and my Filetto Al Gorgonzola that was cooked to perfection at our fav little Italian spot, La Rustica. Lisini delivers yet again. — 8 years ago
Kicking back letting the local tunes adjust my attitude with wine:30 showing on the clock she strolls in my direction digging the slow roll Hendrix spinning left then twisting right dressed in deep purple clinging and flowing interestingly crimson along her rim and edges back to casually claret whispering that she's from a small chateau hanging on the right bank of the Gironde near Arveyres. Offering her hand, I accept pulling her in close then a slow spin and a slower twirl she comes close bathed in the essence of blackberry and spice, young but ripe, wet earthy slowly working her way to a first kiss dripping then gripping, pulling tightly then going soft and silky still clinging while working her way deeper. I close my eyes, Hendrix stops and she's gone. A distant guitar string bends an unknown player. I spot her by the bar, her colors waving in the breeze of a lazy fan I reach out take her firmly by the neck, then lower bending her gently back then spinning her my way, she again engages, her essence lingering in my memory, we dance on as the tunes continue their spin. Later, when we are both done I figure she's likely a fine Merlot brightened by Cab Franc having found her way through new French oak nestled by the river, intelligently nuanced well worth the dance and cost is not an issue...
Hanging at Promise' Land Market where the tunes are always righteous, the people are cool, the conversation is groovy and wines dance from the walls... — 9 years ago
It's back!!! Re-review of this classic Black IPA, now in 12oz bottles!!! This one of the best in style because it is first and true a IPA, not a just a hopped up stout or Porter, which a lot of black IPA's are, this is all about the hops, with that creamy roasted malt, coffee and chocolate, but again the hops are the show, excellent in the style, but beware, this is a big monster of a beer, almost 9% ABV, that is why am glad it is now in 12oz bottles, limit time only, well I guess till the next time it comes out, so to summarize, IPA, first, stout second, Period!!! — 10 years ago
This needed about an hour to douse out the flames that were shooting out the bottle. Once the smoke settles, a jam attack filled with black cherry, oak, vanilla, a thick wine that cries like a baby and lingers like your childhood memories. Righteous but not overly complex or mind blowing. At the end of the day, a punch in your mouth that is still breathing fire. — 10 years ago
New Year’s Eve leftovers forgotten (open) in the fridge after an epic night and a full day of napping. So after 36 hours it’s still pretty righteous amber bliss, a bitter edge with singular notes of butterscotch, anise, petrol, citrus rind, pine, and the faintest bit of untanned leather on the way way back....nice performance. very easy late morning armchair drinking. vendor says 2015 but the bottle is not marked. — 5 years ago
Opened up beautifully; a righteous bottle from Costco at a VERY REASONABLE PRICE <$10! — 7 years ago
Righteous, good value. — 8 years ago
After a decant it blossomed. Hints of figs and marshmallow (?) lead to a crisp palate the softens towards the finish, leaving a trail of mineral, hints of lime and righteous balance on the exit. — 9 years ago

I was looking for essence of tannin to go with the leg of lamb on Boxing Day, and found it in this righteous elixir. No pussyfooting around here--it's the real stuff. Shot through with coarse-ground black pepper; sturdy as a faithful hiking boot. — 11 years ago
Pale yellow white, sparkling clarity. Floral, pine, vanilla, and orange notes in nose. Pineapple, orange, spice, good acidity, mineral finish, close to bone dry, some skin astringency on finish, citrus finish with slight bitterness. On point for variety, righteous dry Gewürtz here people. Gotta love it — 6 years ago

Super smokey at first and I was perceiving this muted prune feel that really threw me off. Not sure what was going on. Kept drinking it in sort of a baffled and intoxicated state but eventually this went missing during the wedding party. I recovered it the next morning on a picnic table about a half mile away overlooking the Muir beach coast with about 1/6th left inside and no cork on it. Proceeded to cork it with a random and drive back to Long Beach with it. I drank it at this point about 32 hours after opening and it was righteous. Menthol and so much medicinal cherry cough syrup from the nose all the way down the hatch. Really serious juice but loving that unique character. Definitely a slow opener. 💥 — 10 years ago

Gonna have a hard time leaving my last three bottles laying down for any period of time. Chicken parm and a truffle oil pasta are a righteous pairing. — 2 years ago
