Poured into a decanter prior to service; enjoyed over the course of dinner. The 2015 “Oliveto p.56” Riserva pours, a deep sienna color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with very light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with drop dead, gorgeous notes of funky Morello cherry, red flowers, black tea, cigar box, fresh green herbs, dried blood orange, old leather, old wood, horse blanket, and dry, dusty earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and the texture is silky and slightly savory. So Italian that it nearly makes me weep with emotion; this gives me the vibes of old school Brunello Riserva and I’m in love. So much personality! I think this is absolutely phenomenal right now and will likely chill in this window through the remainder of this decade and live well beyond. Drink now through 2040-ish. — a year ago

Fully mature, this show really nice complexity for a Rosso. Warm terra cotta tiles, mahogany furniture, and still a bit of macerated cherry fruit. Good intensity on the palate, with acids and tannins to structure everything. Great with the rich “Sunday Gravy” sauce we’re having — 8 months ago

July 2, 2020. Dinner w/ Jack D & KK. KK brought this, we had tasted at the vineyard May 2019. Rich, full bodied Recioto. Plum, raisin fruit, pleasantly sweet. Excellent dessert wine, would be lovely as aperitif w/ cheese plate. Will definitely visit this vineyard again. The Amarone and valpolicella Ripasso were also excellent. — 6 years ago
