Rebuy - This is sweet but has an earthy fruity flavor that we loved. — 5 years ago
Steak night on vacation in the outer banks.
Having an Idaho vs Napa cab comparison. We went to Idaho for a wedding in June and purchased some local wines.
2014 Split Rail Winery vs 2013 Chappellet Napa Valley cab.
This is massive at 15.6% abv with equally big blueberry, cassis, smoke, and touches of lavender. Very surprised by how well this wine was! This was $33 vs the $65 Chappellet price point. — 7 years ago

An expressive Cab with vibrant red fruit of cranberry, pie cherry and currant and a punchy, lingering finish carried by fine grained, well integrated tannins. At the end of this month we will be telling the story of this hidden gem in Idaho. One of the early pioneers in the PNW together with some, now, legendary winemakers in Washington state. Hells Canyon found a perfect spot right here in southwest Idaho over overlooking the Snake River. Well. This wine must be getting over its peak. Somewhat flat, had lost its spiciness. Flavors of dark plum, dry fog and tobacco. — 7 years ago

In Idaho for a wedding and needed to try some local wines. After a 12 hr travel day from south jersey to Ketchum....this paired with a local grass feed brie & fig topped burger is much needed. BlackBerry, plum, bacon fat, olive tapenade, and smoked meats. This could go against any old world syrah. Highly enjoyable. — 7 years ago
Idaho...who knew
Oak gives it a rough and rustic spice. Very earthy. — 8 years ago
Great everyday drinker! A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, and Merlot. Aromas of Cranberry, Cherry, and Plum. On the bud, leather, cedar, and stewed fruit. It has a nice finish. If you’re in the Boise area, be sure to visit the friendly team at Hat Ranch. — 3 years ago
We are members at this winery... I know... Idaho is still figuring out how to do wine, but this wine is a bit-o-alright! Every other month we make the drive to the winery to pick up our allocation. While there is no restaurant at the winery, you are allowed to bring a picnic lunch. Sitting inside or outside with a picnic lunch and w a tasting that comes free w membership is delightful! Staff is so pleasant, and the winery has remained open (with restrictions) during this time of Covid . We like the experience, and THAT’s why we are members. We were willing to put up w mediocre wine for the EXPERIENCE. But, hey, this wine definitely surpasses mediocre! — 5 years ago
Dark red cherry upfront, lighter mid palet and spicy finish. Starting to lose body. — 7 years ago

Very good merlot. Easily could be Napa or Sonoma. — 7 years ago
Spicy, earthy and pipe tobacco. Only thing missing would be a longer finish. Love this winery. — 8 years ago

A 20 year old Syrah from Idaho! Yes Idaho and scoring it a conservative 9.5! Amazing. Still super vibrant, deep dark cherry infused with mulberry spice and lifted with floral notes of violet, sage and jasmine. Incredible. From Hells Canyon, oldest winery in Idaho established in early 1980’s on the banks of the mighty Snake River. — a year ago
