Cherries, raspberries and a hint of minty chocolate, high alcohol packed in minirality. Very pleasant — 8 months ago
Like traditional Rioja but better in subtle ways. Plum and spice. Enjoyed the new oak. Perfect with paprika chicken with lentils and squash. — 3 years ago
Before phylloxera wiped out its vineyards, Málaga was considered one of Europe’s greatest wine regions and its legendary “mountain wines” were coveted throughout the world. In his memoirs, Hugh Johnson singled out an 1830s “mountain wine” bought at a Christie’s auction under the label Molino del Rey as the best wine he’d ever drank - and he’s had plenty. Taking its inspiration from Johnson’s account, Telmo Rodríguez’s Molino Real represents a groundbreaking effort to revive Málaga’s winemaking traditions and to explore the region’s potential for top quality sweet wines.
A “vino naturalmente dulce” or naturally sweet wine (not to be confused with Málaga’s also famous “vino dulce natural” a fortified style developed later in the 18th Century), Molino Real is made with Muscat of Alexandria grapes from 9 hectares of vines on steep slate slopes in Cómpeta in the Axarquía region. The grapes were sun dried - a process known as asoleo - to increase sugar concentration, fermented in 225-liter oak barrels and then aged for 20 months.
Sumptuous, exuberant nose. Flowers, orange blossom, and peach (actually peach yogurt). Balanced, not overwhelmingly sweet. Delicious! — 6 years ago
$6 at Total / Towson ..... Quite good ! — 7 months ago
Aromas slightly similar to sauterne (that noble rot smell) bit with candied orange peel, a big body with sweet mandarin oranges in the syrup juice bit with some acid to cut through. My kind of dessert wine! — 3 years ago
Enticing & seductive with spicy, fresh red fruit, with some ripe cherry, a touch of amarena and a fresh, mineral edge. So fresh, lively, inviting.
Light yet luscious on the palate, vibrant juicy cherry acidity. Love the tannins - grippy yet sappy and quite polished.
Cherries & raspberries with a orange peel sidekick. Delicious.
This is a great wine - authentic & so fresh & juicy yet elegant at the same time.

Från Telmo Rodriguez omplanterade vingård i Valdeorras. Galicisk field blend med mencía som huvudroll. Levande vin i lätt rustik stil. Många smaklager av mörka bär, vilda rosor, örter och lite grön paprika. Fin utveckling i glaset. — 6 years ago
Herbacé et épicé au goût terreux. Bref, puissance et finesse. — 9 months ago
Light citrusy floral nose with hints of minerals. Clean, refreshing apple mineral flavors. Give it a moment in your glass then enjoy! — 2 years ago
Telmo Rodriguez,Gago G, from Toro, Spain. 2017 vintage. Made of Tinta de Toro (local Tempernillo)and Albiño Mayor. Brilliant red color, delicate nose of light dill, black fruits and vanilla notes. Good structure, balanced, chewy. Went well with the Sinta steak. — 3 years ago

Nice nose that reminds me of La Folle Noire d'Ambat from Domaine le Roc in Fronton. There is a bit of a wild thing on the nose, with nice cherry and black cherry notes, there is also an iron, metallic touch. Some savoury scents add some complexity. The palate is juicy, acid driven, with some width, some savoury notes all along, like worcestershire sauce. There is a bit of a tannic grip in the rear and a rather long and juicy, and grippy finish that goes on for a while and ends up with that umami flavour. This is very good and a great value at about 17 USD in equivalent local currency. Warmly recommended. 14% abv — a month ago
