Subdued nose of earth and leaves. Acidic balance that'd goes well with food. Short finish. Might be just over the hill. Better next day. Suppose needed time for it to open up. Nose floral and with earthiness. Good balance and be good with food. Good medium finish. — 10 years ago

Another crazy nose from La Distesa. Funky but pleasant. Almost waxey and tropical aromas. But restrained. Really cool. Nutty as well. Dank nose. Luscious palate with great mouthfeel and texture. Really juicy and dense. A lot of intensity on the palate and nice elegant dissipating finish. This is a big step up from the Terra Silvate. Very mouthwatering and very mineral. Barely if any fruit. A lovely wine to sip and doesn't need food as accompaniment. A definite re-purchase. Had with Ron as he gave me a tour of his art studio. Only lightly tannic with some Jammu fruit and spice on the finish. Wonderful! — 11 years ago
FONTALLORO 2007 – ROSSO IGT – FELSINA: (100% Sangiovese – 20 mesi in barrique). Si presenta limpido di un colore rosso rubino tendente al granato, carico e consistente. Al naso è intenso, ampio nella complessità dei suoi sentori e con una fattura straordinaria degli aromi. Si riconosce un elegante fruttato di ciliegia, more e ribes, poi humus e note di terra bagnata che ricordano i funghi champignon, sentori speziati di chiodi di garofano, note tostate di tabacco e caffè, qualche lieve sentore di vaniglia ed infine liquirizia. In bocca dimostra di essere ancora giovane nelle sue parti dure e si rivela con una elevata freschezza, una grande sapidità ed un tannino evidente ma elegante e setoso. Intenso, fine e di lunga persistenza si ritrovano in bocca il fruttato e le spezie sentite al naso. Aspetterei ancora qualche anno prima di poterlo apprezzare al meglio nella sua eccellenza.
