Sémillon 2006

Pretty light straw , green reflexes . Quite taught and herbaceous on the nose, cut grass with grapefruit , honey , wax , touch toasty , nutty richness . Lemon and lime , slightly toasty notes on the palate, quite long and fresh , saline on the finish . While quite light and not that intense this is still young and could go on like this for another decade or more . — 2 years ago

Some day I hope I find and get to try one of these aged, low-alc Aussie Semillons.

Yes well worth the trouble to find @Tom Casagrande , and this at 18 years still tastes really quite young

Celebrating 120 Years Orange Region Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

A bold red with a fairly straight forward flavour. We had this to ourselves but this would do really well at a party and won't offend casual drinkers. — 7 years ago

Cellar Door Release Late Picked Verdelho 2014

Peaches and honeysuckle all day long... just enough acidity to keep things perky. The gentle golden tint makes everything happy when you look through it. Some may say it's the nectar of the gods; some may be right! We loved it - happy anniversary, babe :) — 10 years ago

Julia Sémillon 2005

Medium lemon colour . Lime cordial with herbal notes , then touches of beeswax , wet wool and a light toasty honied note . On the palate quite light bodied with high acidity and lime , lemon rind and grapefruit , waxy and toasty notes on the finish . Reasonable length and ok balance , not overly intense or super complex but still very well made and successful. Drinking well now but will probably last well for a further decade — 2 years ago

Sémillon Verdelho 1983

One more from the James Halliday's Collection
Never had a blend semillon verdelho, but i must admit you you can tell than 80% is sem
The wine kept marvellously, it is still fresh and there is a touch of oak which you can hardly tell since the toasty side of the semillon has developed fully, but all the other elements are covered up
A bit of mandarin and loquat
Nutmeg, ginger, white pepper and coriander
Mushroon, thyme and oregano
Graphite, hazelnut, straw and marzipan
It is long and perhaps not for everyone palate(which is probably a minus), but i wish everyone to open a 37yo white wine that has hot so much to say. Should I add how much I love my Hunter Semillon? I reckon everyone knows😅

BTW early morning after in the empty glass left on the table I smell apple crumble with cinnamon..i must be dying for breakfast 😁

@Ceccherini Cristiano @Bob McDonald given the logistics it’s unlikely I would’ve bid. If I were involved, I definitely would’ve put a premium on the wonderful provenance .
