Bright at first taste. Tart and long. — 4 years ago
Tart cherry, tree bark, and hibiscus tea on the nose, leading to a wonderfully sweet and refreshing palate of strawberry, forest floor, and fresh herbs. The finish is lingering and pleasant, mild tannins offsetting the sweet, aromatic Pinot. Spätburgunder for the win, always. — 5 years ago

Herzblut 2009. BF/CS/ME/ZW.
With slightly above 100€/0.75lt this wine is one of the most expensive austrian red wines.
2x2 years new barriques (double oak)
Oak still very dominant, underlined with fine blackberry, cassis, plum, licorice, orange zest, some cherry.
Fine tannin, fine acidity, oak also very dominant on the palate.
Drinking very fine now, but benefits from a few more years of bottle aging to achieve a better integration of oak. — 9 years ago
Perfect Sauvignon Blanc.

The most serious Blaufränkisch I’ve tasted thus far. Pure spice character, licorice, minerality, intense small red berries- but with both a finesse and concentration that set it apart from even some of the best examples. Very expansive on the palate and just gets better and better with every minute out of the bottle. Bursting with youthful fruit and verve. Moric seems to have obtained perfect ripeness in the Neckenmarkt and Lutzmannaburg parcels for this 2012 cuvée that is a truly stunning expression of this most noble varietal. Our wine consultant said that this is a unique wine but once we got use to it we would like. Well we really do in fact we love it. Unique cherry and blackberry flavours highlighting exotic spices and finishing with a wonderful mouth feel. Next time we’re in Calgary we’re loading up with this uniquely wonderful Austrian. 11.5% alc/vol. Cheers 🍷 — 6 years ago
