Andremily
No. 7 Syrah
Santa Barbara County, Central Coast, California, USA

The 2018 Andremily No. 7 is one of the most complete wines in this range. A cooler, longer growing season compared to 2018 yielded a gorgeous, layered wine with tremendous depth and strong savory accents. Black pepper, lavender, cloves, spice and menthol lend energy and nuance to this heady Syrah-based red. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2021)

First Andremily. Pretty great. Decanted for 3 hours. Still evolving. It’s definitely California. There’s a lot of spice, oak, game/meat, big fruit of raspberries, chocolate cherries, baking spice, cedar. It’s pretty well balanced but I wanted more. If I tasted this blind I’m pretty sure I’d never guess Syrah. This is kind of like Herman story Syrah meets merlot from Bordeaux for me rather than rhone. I guess pax Syrah is more my style.

2 hour decant(some fine/cloudy sediment). A majestic deep purplish magenta color. On the nose: expressive notes of blackberry jam, menthol, allspice, mint, loamy earth, cinnamon, roasted meat. Taste: creamy, rich, intense mouthcoating wine with brambly ripe red plums/raspberry, saline, graphite, earth, tar, pepper with a never-ending finish. YUM!

Aug 3rd, 2025Same comments as before. Nice medium body. Big ripe blue and black fruit. Solid structure. This is a big wine but with easy mouthfeel. Drinks very easily for a 15+% bottle. Very nice.

Oct 6th, 20222018 Syrah No 7. Wow this is good! Blackberry galore. Other commenters note lavender, pencil shavings, floral and I get all that. Medium plus bodied, silky mouthfeel, long finish. I’ve had Syrah before but not like this. Drinking perfectly now. Fantastic wine!
