Château Talbot
Saint-Julien Cabernet Sauvignon Blend
St. Julien, Médoc, Bordeaux, France

This wine is dark ruby in color. The nose offers beautiful aromas of black fruit, cassis, earth, tobacco, and anise. It’s lush. The palate is exquisite, with blackberry, blueberry, and plum flavors. There is some minerality, but it's the fruit that shows out. It is a magnificent Bordeaux, of a vintage that I'm told is much better than previous years. The tannic grip is remarkable, and the finish leaves one wanting another glass. Steak, as fatty as you can get it, is the pairing for this wine.

Blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot & 3% Cabernet Franc, deep Ruby color with aromas of berry fruit aromas and herb notes. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry, currant-like, with tobacco, cacao and smoky oak notes. Fine polished tannins, long finish ending with fruit and earthy mineral tones, almost starting to drink well but will last for the next decade+.

Feb 17th, 2024Quite smoky & raw. Gravel & raw cacao. The fruit really hidden right now. Barely hinted. After some time a bit of cassis emerges.
Dense on the palate. And quite burly. Big tannins, juicy yet very present. Great depth. Roast, cacao, very masculine.
This is way too early to drink this, still needs time to settle down. Brilliant but way too young.

2019 vintage. Thought some of the previous 2014-2018 vintages were ready steady go! from the onset but this may take the cake. Light-medium body. Nose is über-giving with herbs and baking spices. Finish of 40+ seconds highlighting a cocoa/baking chocolate baseline supplemented with ripe dark cherry and plum. Tannins fully in check-for now.
