Medium ruby color with a slight rose colored meniscus. Aromas of violets, granite dust and a bit of red fruit. Flavors of iron, black pepper spice and very muted black raspberry/blackberry fruit. Medium finish and very soft tannins. Abundant acidity and quite lean. Not very complex. Pretty underwhelming. Even with aeration, bolder flavors just could not be coaxed out. Quite tight, closed and restrained right out of the bottle. On the second day,a bit more fruit and complexity did come forward. Even more so on the third day.
