A lovely surprise, the first time I try the Lafoy Côte Rotie, 100% Syrah, elegant and smooth. Deep purple, opens up with light green notes, plenty of black and red fruits, floral notes, medium to full body, smooth and elegant with round tannins and lovely acidity. A lovely finish, that leaves you with a taste of more. My score 89, drink to 2021 — 11 years ago

Fresh, bright, snappy black fruit. Ripe, firm structure with plenty of acidity and minerality. — 8 years ago

Medium ruby color with a slight rose colored meniscus. Aromas of violets, granite dust and a bit of red fruit. Flavors of iron, black pepper spice and very muted black raspberry/blackberry fruit. Medium finish and very soft tannins. Abundant acidity and quite lean. Not very complex. Pretty underwhelming. Even with aeration, bolder flavors just could not be coaxed out. Quite tight, closed and restrained right out of the bottle. On the second day,a bit more fruit and complexity did come forward. Even more so on the third day. — 2 months ago
