[60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot] So, an Italian IGT recently purchased, in large part due to the continued public shaming from @Tom Casagrande about all the “Over the Hill” wines I post, me trying to be HIP and not the old fart I truly am. Too much oak, modestly Italian aromatically and on the palate, but LOADS of oak, the DAMN bottle itself weighs so much I was pissed @Dave wasn’t out here in NorCal to help this old fart even LIFT it, wine is vaguely impressive for those who love Italian IGTs, but I keep asking myself why I’d buy this instead of Margaret River or non-CULT CA Cabs?? Price was reasonable, but I have literally HUNDREDS of better Cabs and Merlot in my cellar, and the Sangiovese here only seems to supply acidity and balance (a good thing on this young blend). But, I shoulda stayed straight Italian here (no CS or Merlot) or opened an older (10-20 years old??) CA or Margaret River beauty. Honestly, just an inexpensive ($20?) pretender, nothing more!! Average is MY score!!
