Sterling Vineyards
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley, California, USA

That's it! It's Friday and I'm ready for my Cabernet fix.
Dark ruby in color with a short purple rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, blueberries, cherries, licorice, oak, vanilla, chocolates, cloves, spices, dark coffee, pencil lead, earth, peppercorn, leather and tobacco.
Full bodied but not bold, with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cherries, sweet raspberries, smoke, vegetables, vanilla, earth, coffee, bitter herbs, spices, cola, graphite and peppercorn.
Medium plus in finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a nice Napa Cabernet. Well balanced and enjoyable by itself or with food. A good sipping wine and good for parties.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (about 45 minutes). This 4 year old will also drink nicely in the next 5 years.
I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats, cheeses and interesting jams.
James Suckling 91 points.
14.6% alcohol by volume.

Definitely let this one breathe first. Overall good wine for typical dinner.

1 person found it helpfulDec 7th, 2016Great depth, variety of flavor and potential. The wine seems a little young. Many disparate flavors that don't conflate into a seamless product. A year or two might remedy this program. Vanilla and spice, overripe plum, espresso note, tannic finish, slightly astringent and wonky throughout, likely to be fixed by cellaring.

Oct 1st, 2017Out of the bottle has a great nose, full sensation. Blackberry is dominant taste on the front with an oak, manly finish. After an hour to breath, the vanilla becomes more apparent in the nose and the finish is much more mellow. Good buy if the price is right, I would purchase again.
