Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese

Big and way to young but has a good amount of character

Dark and murky ruby color with a slight garnet rim. Aromas of leather, ripe black cherry and a good deal of barnyard funk. Flavors of earth, coffee, mushrooms with a very slight amount of dried black cherry fruit. Finish is a bit bitter but the wine is still well balanced. Exceptionally tertiary with well softened tannins. Frankly, this wine was fine (if you can accept the lower fruit levels) but I was (it was not flawed) honestly expecting more from this highly regarded producer.

Decanted for 1 hour before dinner.

Really needed food. This wine was dark and not enjoyable unless paired with rich food.

Overall - okay but not what I expect from this winery. Maybe an off bottle from auction

Definitely in Sofia and I’s top 3. Big, bold, balanced, beautiful. With short ribs😋

Black cherry, anise, dried rose. Drying, velvety tannins. In a great drinking window right now. Very impressed

Just a beautiful wine. Not overly full of Italian dirt like many.

Earthy feel. Tones. Taste and smell. Goes really well with the Italian risotto and short rib ragú we had.

Both bottles absolutely superb!
