Light like a Pinot Noir but with boysenberry tones and some minerality — 2 years ago
Deep bright yellow gold (barrel fermented?). Initially shy but inviting nose of dried apple and white pepper. Spicy medium palate confirms the palate as well as the barrel fermentation(!), adding a bit of orange candy once it opens up (still dry, tho). Moderate finish typical of the style. Gott say I thought I'd be disappointed or at least underwhelmed by this wine. Not at all. This is a really nice dry expression of the variety that's got more complexity than expected. Drink now with pork or turkey. — 3 years ago

Spectacular match with Thanksgiving turkey and ham dinner. — 8 years ago
Excellent for the region and price. — 8 years ago

Ive had my fair share of this varietal and region - this is a nice option! Round and creamy, lots of bright citrus and minerality. The salinity really brings it home. — 2 years ago

Caves Ropiteau Frères — Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2022 — Burgundy. France 🇫🇷
Overview:
A classical, regionally driven Burgundy expression crafted from 100% Pinot Noir, blending fruit sourced across multiple villages and terroirs to build an elegant yet accessible house style. Clay-limestone soils bring freshness, lift, and savory tension, making this a textbook Bourgogne bottling that punches above its price point.
Aromas & Flavors:
Bright red cherry, raspberry, fresh strawberry, subtle floral lift, gentle spice, and a light earthy undertone.
Mouthfeel:
Medium-bodied with rounded yet lively acidity, supple tannins, and clean linear flow across the palate. Juicy red fruit stays fresh and energetic through a balanced, refreshing finish.
Food Pairings:
Roast chicken, mushroom risotto, grilled salmon, charcuterie, soft-rind cheeses, herbed pork alternatives (kosher-friendly options: turkey cutlets, mushroom-based dishes).
Personal Pick:
This is my go-to style when I want honest Burgundy character without overthinking the bottle — bright, charming, food-friendly, and incredibly versatile for casual dinners or weekday pours.
Verdict:
An excellent regional benchmark Pinot Noir delivering authenticity, balance, and outstanding value for Burgundy lovers.

Deep gold with an enticing bouquet of green and golden apples, apricot, and subtle notes of grilled pineapple, oaky notes of cedar and charred brûlée, and some bottle age with hints of petrol and grilled meat fat drippings. Mouthfeel is rich and viscous with a palate of more green fruit of green and golden apples, notes of apricot, and hints of vanilla oakiness with a nicely lingering medium length finish. Drank it with Thanksgiving dinner; didn't eat the turkey but it went well with all the sides; even did fine with dessert. I'm confident it would pair well with the meat, too. — 5 years ago
Crisp, smooth, affordable. — 7 years ago
Clear, medium ruby
Clean, med+ notes of black pepper. Might be fooled into thinking Northern Rhone (also triggering a Susumaniello response), unidentified red fruit ontop of deep dark gnarliness.
Dry, medium acid tannin . Body is in the acid driven lean category. Weight of a Beaujolais @ 13% ABV. Red fruit and pepper. Holds its own as the black pepper in the mix of celery root, parsnips, Dittmer’s smoked turkey (oh yeah) and even kale. Cote Rotie of Chile. Rockstar.
Kick ass organic old vine and natural Cinsault (90%) wine from Chile. Could lay down 1.5 years.
NOTES: ”Located in the Guarilihue district of Chile's Itata Valley, Rogue Vines is one of the relatively recent producers to make expressive, organically farmed, minimal intervention wine. Cinsualt is abundant around these parts, and oftentimes dates back to the 1940s so they are nicely mature. *Natural Wine*” — 8 years ago
This is an interesting expression of our fave Turkish grape. Much more ripe, with dark cherries instead of the usual raspberry/strawberry. Plus maple and chocolate notes, and I swear bacon on the finish at first, but that dissipated after an hour open. Altogether lovely, but as usual for the region, sadly much too expensive for what you get. — 8 years ago
