Ca' Rome' di Romano Marengo

Vigna Cerretta Barolo Nebbiolo 2011

Wow. Big fan. Lots of bright red fruits like cherries and raspberries in the beginning. Great acidity. It is more earthy than I expected, but not unwelcome. I really appreciated the almost floral/rosy note that contrasts the brightness off the bat. Still pretty tannic, I imagine this would only get better with age. Tasted expensive. I have no clue how much it costs. Only improved with time/air as we ate dinner. Super cool to taste how it “opened up” and how it changed. — 3 months ago

Terre Alte Rosazzo Bianco Colli Orientali del Friuli 2019

Very interesting wine, have not really had much like it before. A distinct almost sour note on the palate but still balanced with excellent freshness and verve. Nice pairing with some antipasto and sole on our last night in rome. — 4 years ago

Costasera Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend 2020

I’d forgotten how very yummy Amarone was. Italian restaurant in Rome - they didn’t have the primitivo I wanted so tried this Classico 2020 instead. Very quaffable, rich notes went well with my lasagna. Bit like a warm hug and relatively low tannins. Now to see if I can find anything similar back in UK. — 5 months ago

Great for its youthfulness. Would benefit from another year or two in the cellar. — 2 months ago

Friuli Grave Pinot Grigio

This is delightful and might be the white wine I had in Rome that I’ve been looking for since. If not it’s a good replacement and I’ll be getting some to keep at home. — 4 years ago
