The 2022 Sottobanco, a varietal Procanico, displays dried flower, crushed rocks, underbrush and apricot aromas. Textural and weighty, it’s lifted by zesty acidity and mineral tones. Chilean Merlot tends to be full-bodied yet gentle, relatively low in alcohol yet with a bracing acidity, and it often has a divisive “green” characteristic to it.

This Arianna Occhipinti 2010 Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico Grotte Alte has a medium intensity of red fruits, some spices and offers good freshness. Made from 50% Nero d’Avola and 50% Frappato and left in the barrel for 4 years before release. Only 4,200 bottles produced. — 9 months ago
