Grown on various parcels, mainly in the gypsum soils, the 2020 Riesling Schoenenbourg Grand Cru was vinified in stainless steel. It has a peppery, earthy, herbal aspect that soon verges into ripe peach and dried lemon peel. The vivid acidity of the palate seems buffered by layers of chalk. All the precision and coolness of the soil is there, making the mouth water, enticing you to take another sip of this sleek, energetic wine. Bone-dry. Laurence and Philippe Greiner are the nicest couple making wines organically in Riquewihr. Here their everyday Riesling has layered aromas of ever so slight petrol, lime zest, wet stone, and fragrant citrus blossoms. The lime follows presenting a lively, medium-high acidity palate that is dry and slowly fades. Linear attack, round on the finish, high quality, great value. — 7 years ago

Certainly not the same as drinking this in the quaint village of Riquewihr; but, Baltimore will just have to do. Amazing for the price point (we didn’t even bring back any of these bargain bottles). Really cool Alsatian blend. Good balance. A lot of white fruit. — 9 years ago

Gewurztraminer from the Froehn grand cru in Zellenberg. Rich, aromatic nose with aromas of candied peaches, floral (white flowers) and exotic fruit notes (lychee, guava). On the palate it is round, very sweet, with hints of chamomile and pleasant finish — 6 years ago

The Gewurztraminer typically would represent the explosion of flavors and would guarantee to tickle your senses, this one is a strong member of the team. The ubiquitous for Alsace flavor of Rainier cherries is supplemented by vanilla, caramel and spice, and, amazingly enough, in overall dry package.
