Château Lemoine Lafon Rochet

Château Lafon-Rochet

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2017

Always good ample aroma including black currant, berry and cherry. Leather. Slightly solid. Better to wait for years. Rafon Rochet 17 @3080, Galeri, 260518 — a day ago

Château Prieuré-Lichine

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

2019 vintage. Not as immediately opulent as the 2015-2018 vintages and possesses more punch than the 2020 vintage. Medium-heavy body. Think darker fruits and baking chocolate vs ripe fruits, smoke and newish oak that jumped out 2015-2018. Drinking beautifully now but 3-4 in the bottle will thin out the body and make it a better food matchup. More than a little reminiscent of Lafon-Rochet from St. Estèphe. BTG now tho as a pop and pour, it doesn't suck. 3.26.24. — 2 years ago

Cognac Tesseron

Lot No. 53 X.O. Perfection

Post steak 🥩, nice with a cool breeze in the backyard.
Wine Advocate: 98 points

The Tesseron family (currently the proprietors of St.-Estèphe’s Lafon-Rochet and Pauillac’s Pontet-Canet) made its fortune in the Cognac business, and it is one of the few families to possess ancient stocks of great vintages that have not been diluted with water or manipulated in any manner. They released small quantities of Lot 29 (1929), which remains the most ethereal Cognac I have ever tasted. I’m no expert, but their newest release, the 1953, seems close in quality to the 1929. Slightly darker than the 1929, the 1953 is pure silk, which at this alcohol level is very dangerous indeed. The complex aromatics can fill a room.

Château Lilian Ladouys

Saint Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

2019 vintage. After the excellent Cabernet Sauvignon dominated 2018, this 2019 is predominantly Merlot (59%), with 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. Less colour compared to fellow Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel Château Lestage (Listrac) tasted alongside, indicating more gentle extractions. Delightfully floral nose with bright red fruit and very discrete oak. Medium-bodied, fresh and energetic, with a serious tannic backbone, but smooth and elegant with very good mineral length. The Lorenzetti family is doing a great job here, and they just bought neighbouring Grand Cru Classé Lafon-Rochet, an exciting extension of their portfolio that already includes Pédesclaux (Pauillac) and co-owned Issan (Margaux). Terrific value too. — 5 years ago

Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Blind, you might easily mistaken this for a pedigreed Saint-Estephe from a top vintage. Loaded with cassis, tobacco, graphite, earth, a touch of leather. Tannins have relaxed but are still present. Rich. Long. Oh so balanced!! Tasted alongside the 2010 Lafon-Rochet that was equally stunning. Drink now through 2029. — 7 years ago
