Château Roc De Cambes

Domaine de Cambes

Red Bordeaux Blend 2022

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Strong nose and medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing black fruits with cedar, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, earth and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Merlot from Côtes de Bourg in the Right Bank of Bordeaux. Still very young, and needs 7 years in the bottle to mature properly, but already enjoyable even by itself.

This 2022 was a great vintage, and is already very approachable at its youth. Will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years.

Nicely balanced and rich. Fruit forward and elegant. Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

A blend of mostly Merlot with Cabernet Franc. Aged in French oak barrels.

15% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

Kavalan

Sherry Oak Single Malt Whisky

A chance to compare again with proper notes. Aromas of maple syrup and honey. The Sherry sweetness comes through, with a toasty, nutty character on top of the grape. Very nice. — 2 years ago

Whisky

Interesting single malt from Taiwan. Sweet vanilla aroma. Cedar, nuts, caramel, Szechuan pepper, hot cinnamon. Not super smooth, but layered and very spiced. Leaves a mouth tingle. I’m not much of a whisky guy, but good to try. — 5 months ago

Segna de Cor Côtes du Roussillon Villages Red Blend 2021

Cotes de Catalan red with Guinea Fowl at Spring. Excellent fruit, not the graininess I can find in Grenache/Carignan reds at times. — 2 years ago

La Folle Noire d'Ambat Fronton Negrette 2022

2022 vintage. Any wine that smells like roses gets my attention. In this case the roses are intertwined with spices, and it is hard to find wines this cheap that smell so nice. A delicious, uncomplicated, spicy and fruity Negrette, with a little tannic bite that can be served slightly cold. Abv. 12,5%. This organic Fronton delivers lots of pleasure and character, and it sells for a song. — 6 months ago
