Substance Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Chardonnay

(Disg. 2014)…Some of the most captivating aromatics you’ll ever find from Champagne, stunningly complex with infinite layers, racy acids and chalky minerality. Such incredible intensity, verve and an explosively long finale. Nothing like Selosse. Untouchable! — 13 days ago

Les Vignes de Montgueux Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne Chardonnay

Somm David T
9.2

Nice. Lots of micro, fine, precision bubbles. Leans just into a soft oxidative style.

Slightly bruised, apple & pear, touch of apple cider, lemon chiffon/meringue, understated pineapple juice, tropical melons, lime zest, white stone fruit, fluffy whipped cream, bread dough, white spice, some oyster, sea fossils, crumbled limestone, sharpe toned, chalk powder, white spice, dry top soil layered over the top, excellent acidity, nice, round, evenly tensioned, well balanced, elegant finish that lasts two-minutes and lands evenly on fruit & earth.

Lieux Dits Les Carelles Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Chardonnay

Disg. 2/14…Always my favorite of the Lieux-Dits and without question one of the very best Blanc de Blancs Champagnes on the planet, it’s particularly special to have with some bottle age. It’s stunning today, rich and powerful with crazy depth to its layers with a deep, complex core of caramelized orchard fruit, roasted nuts, old rum barrels and candied white flowers, all seamlessly integrated. The palate is generous and detailed, with racy acids, waves of saline laced, chalky Le Mesnil minerals and a finish that stays with you. A BdB benchmark for my tastes. — 10 months ago

Brut Rosé Champagne Blend

October 2020 disgorgment is always so perfect, a particular favorite, with immense depth of red berry fruit and chalky minerality, a chiseled palate with singular texture and a finish that keeps on going. VO base with a touch of still Pinot from Francis Egly. Nothin’ like it 👑 — 4 months ago
