Second time tasting this 2018 bottling. Four years on, the 2018 Headlock has softened and found better harmony. The once dense core has relaxed, with plum, blackberry compote, and blueberry giving way to dark cherry, cocoa, and gentle smoke. The flamboyant Prisoner richness remains, but tannins are more polished and the sweet spice better integrated. Acidity also softens but still has enough to lift the palate. A lot to like here.

Medium body with elegant finish. Dark fruits, some earth, and some hints of spice. Yummy wine. — 6 months ago
This is a blend, nothing less from Prisoner: Cab with Merlot, Syrah, Malbec, Petite Sirah and splash of Charbono, aged for 15 months in French and American oak (55% new). Deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits, cedar and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry with notes of vanilla, oak and cinnamon. Fine tannins, long finish, lively acidity, nice mouthfeel ending with fruit and spice. Nice! — 4 years ago

Aging beautifully, smells like a chocolate rootbeer float. Rich, textured. Could go another 5yr easily. — 2 years ago
