Not your standard Pinot noir but I love this. — 10 months ago

K&L notes, Attractive aromas of cedar, caramel, crushed pineapple, eucalyptus-vanilla, and fine tea with a round, vibrant, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a smooth, complex, very long allspice, lime leaf, dried mango, smoke, and sea salt finish. Exotic aromas and superb integration make this the Cognac or Single Malt-lovers Tequila; a must-try." (04/2019) Distiller's note: "A distinct tequila, El Tesoro Paradiso® is slowly aged for five years in French oak ex-Cognac barrels. Created by Don Felipe Camarena in collaboration in with Alain Royer of A. de Fussigny Cognac, this unique tequila has an earthy taste with a hint of minerality, tropical characteristics, and sweet notes of butterscotch." — 6 years ago

Definitely @Ron R . I’ve had many bottles in the past 10 yearsNice value Pinot, wine of the month. — 7 years ago
Lousas from Envinate, vinas de aldea CV (Cuvée Viticole). Color: Dark ruby to pale garnet around the rim. Nose: red fruit and pepper, blackberry fruit, hot spices (cinnamon, cloves, and black pepper). Kind of a hearty nose, like the smell of spices from a hearty chili.

I have not had many mencia before, so can’t really present a fair comparison. This is how I compartmentalize this wine: It has the structure of a well-made Burgundy minus the telltale leather flavors of a pinot noir. Other than that, the earthiness and the tannins and the length are simply majestic like the best of burgundy... but which Burgundy? I can’t tell, @brianmcclinticms, any thoughts?

@viticolewine great collaboration with Envinate, keep ‘em coming. Migan (La Habanera) was out of this world, and this one keeps growing on me! — 7 years ago

Owned in collaboration with Chris Ringland, Jorge Ordonez, Miguel Gil and others, located in Valley of La Aragona inside the Murcia district of Jumilla. Very dark Ruby, purple edges with floral fruit aromas & floral spice. On the palate blueberry & sweet black cherry flavors, savory with great mouthfeel, 24 months aging on French & American oak, the 70% Monastrell & 30% Cab Sauv has fine soft tannins, well integrated with oak, long finish ending with mineral tones, Will age well! — 6 years ago
Outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon. Great nose. Intense, rich bark berry fruit. Well worth the wait, but would be great for many more years to come! — 8 years ago

So for those who don’t know, this wine is a collaboration between one of the most famous California winemakers and one of the most famous Bordeaux wine makers (the grapes are from Napa).
The young expression when I first had it 10 years ago was big bold ripe fruit, probably the quintessential Napa cab.
The aged expression had more secondary and tertiary characteristics, terroir, and represented Baron Rothschild in respects of crafting a wine that could grow and develop and express the care that goes into winemaking as opposed to simply growing good fruit.
The young version of it perfectly expresses Mondavi and Napa. The aged version captures the elegance of Bordeaux winemaking and Rothschild’s fingerprints. You cannot fully experience this wine unless you’ve had it young and old. Unbelievable experience tonight. — 10 months ago
Recently went to tasting featuring bunch of “TheCalling” Wines. Tasted this ‘14 Pinot 2yrs ago-developed nicely. Sports commentator Jim Nantz & wine guru Peter Deutsch met by chance at CT restaurant, each having dinner w/friends. Jim had a passion for wine and was exploring the next step when Peter stopped by the table, that meeting started a collaboration. Ruby with berry fruit aromas and complex spice. On the palate cherry with vanilla oak and pepper spice. Lingering finish ending with cacao & oak notes. — 7 years ago
Monthly WTF wine group meet up. No true theme this month. Some wines tasted blind.
Tasted blind. Pretty bouquet of potpourri, black cherry, herbs, sweet tar, and ripe fresh squeezed blackberries. Very soft and plush on the palate...sweet red and black fruit to the core with violet and dark chocolate. Excellent! I called this merlot. My WOTN. — 7 years ago
