It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Inky in color with a short purple rim.

Strong nose of black fruits with light cedar, earth, herbs, toast, mediterranean spices, black pepper, herbs and black tea.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, spices, cedar, licorice, chocolates, herbs, coffee, light earth, tobacco leaf, black tea and light peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Rich and fruit forward, nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Complex and engaging.

Still young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. Has good potential to become a 96+ point wine.

Needs 3 hours to open up properly, so be patient.

I had the 2018 vintage 5 years ago, and this 2021 vintage is showing so much better already.

A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak.

Pretty nose of red and black fruits with light wood, wild flowers, spices, coffee, herbs, earth and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, spices, oak, licorice, earth, vegetables, spices, tobacco leaf, light forest floor and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy pomegranates.

This 9 year old red blend from Lebanon is still young and needs 10 years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years. Showing good potential to become a 93+ point wine.

Needed 3 hours to open up properly, fresh and easy drinking.

Good by itself or with food.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Cinsault. Aged in concrete vats and French oak barrels.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

This Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend is starting to drink nicely now. Elegant and nicely balanced, but still feels very tight.

Earthy with nice complexity, and very Left Bank Bordeaux in style.

Still very young and not as approachable. Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years.

Robert Parker 96 points.

Needs a few hours to open up properly, and a good food wine.

A blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Carmenere, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Aged for 20 months in (70% new) French oak barrels.

This is a beautiful Single Vineyard Chardonnay from Napa Valley.

Full bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with a soft mouthfeel.

Elegant and nicely balanced. Fruit forward, complex and entertaining.

I had this vintage a year ago, and it wasn't showing well at all. Drinking beautifully now.

Robert Parker 94 points.

Good by itself or with food.

100% Chardonnay grapes were aged for 7 months in (40% new) French oak barrels.

This is a nice red blend from Oak Knoll District in Napa Valley. Nicely balanced yet restrained. Lively and easy drinking.

This unique Malbec blend doesn't show like it's from Napa Valley.

Would be interesting to try it again in a few years, and see how it evolves.

Good by itself or with food, like BBQ Meats.

A blend of 46% Malbec, 28% Petit Verdot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in (47% new) French Oak barrels for 18 months.

This is a delicious 3 year old Chardonnay from Burgundy. Nicely balanced and complex. Rich and elegant, fruity and interesting.

Will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.

Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

100% Chardonnay grapes were aged on the lees in (25% new) French Oak barrels for 12 months.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish/ brick rim.

Fruity nose and medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing cooked cherries, black currants, plums, light oak, chocolates, herbs, earth, licorice, spices, light forest floor and peppercorn.

Long spicy finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very tasty 8 year old Pinot Noir from Petaluma Gap in Sonoma. Elegant and rich. Nicely balanced and complex.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 30 minutes of airtime.

This Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is drinking at its peak now, and will continue to do so in the next couple of years.

Wine Enthusiasts 90 points.

100% Pinot Noir grapes were aged for 11 months in (40% new) French Oak barrels. Unfined
and unfiltered.

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.

Dry on the palate with black plums, cooked cherries, currants, light oak, spices, chocolates, light black tea, licorice, herbs, coffee, tobacco leaf and black pepper.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This young Merlot from Sonoma County is already drinking beautifully, but needs a few more years in the bottle to mature properly.

Fruit forward and very elegant, with nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel. Spicy, tangy and entertaining. Feels like a Right Bank Bordeaux.

I've had an older vintage of this Merlot not too long ago, and it was drinking even better. Will continue to age nicely in the next 25 years. Has good potential to become a 96+ point wine.

A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with food.

A blend of 90% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 4% Malbec. Aged for 16 months in (95% new) French oak barrels.

This is a beautiful Bordeaux blend from To Kalon Vineyard in Napa Valley.

Medium to full bodied and powerful. Dry on the palate and fruit forward.

Nicely balanced and elegant. Rich and fruit forward with a touch of vegetable notes. Complex and entertaining.

Already delicious, but still young and needs 10 years in the bottle to mature properly. Showing great potential to become a 94 point wine.

Good right out of the bottle, and much better after a couple of hours of airtime.

Strong nose of black fruits with light wood, forest floor, earth, spices, tobacco leaf, dark coffee, herbs, rhubarb and light black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, cooked black plums, light oak, Indian spices, herbs, tobacco leaf, black tea, licorice, earth, black pepper and light forest floor.

Long finish with fine grained tannins, tangy cherries and marzipan notes.

This 19 year old Brunello is still drinking beautifully, although a tad past it peak. Nicely balanced with great complexity. Elegant and soft.

Stinky nose right out of the bottle, and showing lots of earth notes, but the fruits are still there.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 90 minutes of airtime.

I've had a few vintages of this wine and it is very consistent.

A very interesting wine, and very enjoyable by itself or with food.
