Deep purple in color with a purplish/ reddish rim.

Fruity nose of black currants, cooked plums, licorice, oak, light vanilla, spices, dark chocolates, herbs, coffee and light earth.

Full-bodied and bold, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, spices, oak, dark chocolates, coffee, peppercorn, spices and green tea.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Red Mountain in Washington State. Elegant and fruit forward. Rich and extracted, chewy and spicy. Nicely balanced and complex, with a nice mouthfeel.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 2 hours of airtime.

Still young, but already very approachable, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak.

A blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc. Aged in all new French oak barrels for 20 months.

This 4 year old Single Vineyard Napa Pinot Noir is drinking very nicely now. Showing nice complexity with a soft mouthfeel. Elegant, fruit forward and easy drinking.

I had this vintage over a year ago, and it is still drinking very nicely.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, and a good wine to drink by the porch.

100% Pinot Noir grapes were aged in (44% new) French Oak barrels for 10 months. A small production of less than 3,000 bottles.

This 6 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Stags Leap District in Napa Valley is drinking beautifully now. Rich and fruit forward. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Complex and soft.

I've had a few vintages of this Cabernet, and it is very consistent.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 90 minutes in the decanter. Will continue to age nicely in the next 7 to 10 years.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will pair nicely with a nice piece of steak.

A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. Aged on the lees for 28 months in (40% new) French Oak barrels. A tiny production of only 1,200 bottles.

Showing oak, citrus, yellow apples, melons, pears and spices.

Tangy finish with lemons and limes.

This easy drinking Chardonnay from California is oaky and tangy. The alcohol is nicely integrated so watch out.

I had this vintage before, and it is drinking better now. Will not get better from this point on, so drink up.

Good by itself as a sipping wine.

Dry on the palate and complex. Elegant and rich.

Showing red and blue fruits with light wood, spices, coffee, earth, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, herbs, peppercorn and light vegetables.

Nice length on the finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a delicious Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Soft and smooth, spicy and entertaining.

This 8 year old feels a little muted at the moment, and needs 5 years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years, and shows good potential to become a 94+ point wine.

Fruity, easy drinking, and a great sipping wine, that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in new and neutral French oak barrels for 3 years.

Showing citrus, green apples, light spices, yeast, light brioche, minerals and sea salt.

Long finish with limes and almonds.

This 14 year old Champagne is starting to drink nicely now. Rich and nicely balanced. Tangy and spicy.

Still young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.

I've had a few vintages of this Champagne, and this one seems less approachable at the moment.

Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food, like fresh seafood.

A blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir. Aged for 7 years on the lees.

12% alcohol by volume.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.

This 5 year old Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Chile is starting to drink beautifully now. Very complex and nicely balanced.

Needed 2 hours in the decanter to open up properly. Right out of the bottle, the nose was fruity and the palate was earthy. That flipped once it opened up. So interesting.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years, and has good potential to become a 94+ point wine.

I've had a few vintages of this Chilean superstar, and so far my favorite was the 2015 vintage.

Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

A blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Carmenere, 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Aged for 20 months in new French oak barrels.

15% alcohol by volume.

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Dry on the palate with black currants, blueberries, light wood, spices, coffee, vegetables, bitter herbs and black pepper.

Short finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries and herbs.

This Merlot from Santa Cruz Mountains in California is earthy, tangy and spicy.

Might need a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years and see how it evolves.

A little unbalanced right now, and better with food.

A blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in (40% new) French and American oak barrels for 20 months. A small production of only 2,500 bottles.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with cooked cherries, blueberries, black plums, mediterranean spices, cedar, licorice, chocolates, eucalyptus, tobacco leaf, peppercorn, earth and herbs.

Long long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This 14 year old red blend from Santa Ynez Valley in California is just gorgeous now. Elegant and nicely balanced with soft a mouthfeel. Rich and fruit forward, tangy and engaging.

Drinking from a half bottle, so probably aged faster, and feels like a 20 year old Napa Bordeaux blend.

What a great surprise. So much complexity, on both the nose and palate. Showing perfect balance, and the alcohol is not noticeable at all.

Drinking at its peak now, and will continue to do so in the next few years.

Good right out of the bottle, and a great sipping wine. Such a pleasure.

This is very tasty sparkling wine from Russian River Valley. Elegant, nicely balanced and easy drinking.

Already showing nice complexity and will continue to age nicely in the next 7 to 10 years.

Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

A blend of 73% Pinot Noir and 27% Chardonnay. Aged for 4 years on the lees, and disgorged in April 2026. A small production of only 6,000 bottles.
