This wine is absolutely gorgeous! Give it a 30 min rest in the glass. Bright ripe fruit nose. Silky mouthfeel, the perfectly ripe black and blue fruit comes forth, followed by intense minerality, soft yet grippy tannins leaving a slightly chalky mouthfeel. So elegant, such finesse. Graphite, black licorice, blueberry pie, baking spices, hint of mocha. Superb medium-long finish. It’s this experience that makes Dr Crane one of my favorite vineyards. Oh my. This wine is unbelievable. Rich nose of chocolate, cherry cordial, cola, raspberry purée, cocoa, smoke, oak, leather, fennel, oregano, grape juice... you name it, it’s there. Bold & brooding on the palate. Leathery notes of cigar smoke, tar, wet cigarettes, dark cocoa powder, chocolate-dipped raspberry, blueberry, red currant, & cassis. Grippy & lightly tart with medium-plus acidity. Alcohol hides well under all this fruit. Another stellar David Phinney release. — 6 years ago

This wine was awesome! It sang like the person in the opera of the Olympics closing ceremony. On all cylinders. Layers of beautiful bright dark blue and red fruit flavors carried by very present but super silky tannins that gave it ‘stop-in-your-track’ intensity. All in beautiful harmony. — 3 months ago

Uhhh, quite the mind-blowing bottle. The finesse of this build is pure class. The oak is prominent but is a Prince Charming to Cinderella’s sweet perfect vintage fruit set. Tropical and touch floral with an amazing Meyer lemon & crème brûlée finish (that is silky/long). Top shelf build :) — 4 years ago
