“Clos de la Barre” is a lieu dit monopole that has been owned by the Lafon family since 1894.
Opened sometime prior to dinner. The 2018 “Clos de la Barre” pours a pale straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with apples, pineapple, white flowers, a whiff of matchstick, lemon, and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and creamy. A really pretty wine. Perhaps even a little shy tonight. Quality is unquestionably high. Drink now through 2038. — 2 months ago

Yellow gold with honeysuckle or jasmine floral aromas as well as lemon and quince. Really nice floral aromas. On the bud, lemon and fresh pine. Well balanced with a medium finish. — 3 months ago

Wow. This is serious stuff.
Candied lemon, reductive hints of matchstick, smooth and spicy mouthfeel, creamy vanillin, beautiful veins of acidity. This might be the best Bourgogne Blanc in my cellar. We’ll see, as I plan to evaluate them in the months to come. — 4 months ago

Opening a special white on Wednesday to celebrate a great Tuesday. Weekday schmeekday. Nose is gorgeous, with oatmeal, lemon juice dripped on limestony clay, deep and ripe fruit, almost but not quite approaching peach territory. Intense in the mouth, with deep and penetrating flavors of slightly earthy minerality and deep appley fruit. Really nice length. If this is what this domaine’s village Meursault is like (it’s my first time scoring a Mikulski), I can only imagine what their 1er crus are like. (My score may be influenced a little by my mood tonight. 😉) — 3 days ago
