Stag's Leap Wine Cellars

Fay Hillside Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Dark color of a bruised plum. Aroma is woodsy. Hint of campfire, plenty of earthy stuff too. Flavors are dense and juicy. Extra. This one is extra. It goes to 11. — 20 days ago

Fay Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Decant and pour. A splendid dark purplish garnet color. On the nose: inviting aeromatics jump from the glass with dark cherry jam, graphite, herbaceous, vanilla oak, floral. Taste: blackberry/black cherry, crushed stone ,tar, spice, and a medium plus tannic kick me wine. Like to try again in a few years. — 8 months ago

Carteria Valtellina Superiore Valgella Nebbiolo 2014

2020/5/24 with grilled ribeye, eringi with fennel, tarragon and chives, whitebait aglio olio and radicchio salad. This had a wonderful balance of taut structure and fruit intensity, while still remaining light and translucent. That, with the red fruit and spice nose, gave it an almost Burgundian feel - it was also quite distinct from the other Fay bottles. — 6 years ago
