Morillon vom Opok
Biodynamic Chardonnay from Steiermark.
Cloudy, smokey, yeasty, sappy, fresh!
Bruised apples, ripe lemons, underripe pineapple, green mango. Plus some hay, flinty, smokey aromas. Juicy, fresh, enticing.
On the palate with vibrant acidity, with great freshness & depth. Rough around the edges, with a touch of cidery notes, a bit of VA. There’s a creamy touch to the mouthfeel. And a mineral hint. This is ultra drinkable and so delicious. Love it! — 4 years ago
One of the signature grapes of Austria, deep lemon with aromas of stone and tropical fruits, spice and fresh citrus notes. On the palate pear, melon and tangy lemon citrus flavors with herb and pepper spice. Well balanced, medium finish ending with mineral tones. Nice value, will benefit with some short term aging. — 5 years ago
The wine keeps evolving over a couple of hours. It gets cleaner with each tasting. The caramel color scared me at the outset, but it keeps improving — 7 years ago
Ried Mühlberg – Grüner Veltliner – 2023
Austria 🇦🇹

A classic yet expressive Grüner Veltliner from the Mühlberg vineyard (“Ried”), showcasing the varietal’s signature freshness, minerality, and versatility. Crafted in a clean, vibrant style that balances fruit and structure beautifully.
Aromas & Flavors
Bright and layered with tropical fruit notes, green apple, citrus, and a subtle white pepper spice. Hints of stone fruit and a mineral edge add depth and intrigue.
Mouthfeel
Crisp and refreshing with lively acidity. Medium-light body with a clean, mineral-driven finish that keeps the palate energized and wanting another sip.
Food Pairings
Perfect with schnitzel, seafood, sushi, salads, roasted vegetables, or lightly spiced Asian dishes. Also shines as a standalone sipper.
Verdict
A Grüner that never disappoints, fresh, expressive, and beautifully balanced. Equally enjoyable for casual sipping or a more attentive, sophisticated palate.
Did You Know?
Grüner Veltliner is Austria’s flagship grape and is famous for its natural affinity with food, especially dishes that are notoriously hard to pair, like asparagus or artichokes.
🍷 Personal Pick
One of those go-to whites that quietly overdelivers, easygoing on the surface, but with enough layers to keep things interesting. — 2 months ago
I think this is basically a U.S. Importer/negociant label. The wine is inexpensive and good. Loads of bright, appley, peachy fruit in the nose, along with a whiff of deep-toned slatey minerals. Round and full-flavored, but in a light carriage, it’s only slightly sweet and has some nice, integrated acidity. — 3 years ago
Very light and juicy. Moderate sweetness. Low tannins. — 5 years ago

Smells like “bubble gum” doesn’t taste that way but think this bottle is advanced due to storage because of an oxy note on palate. Nice acidity texture and length as you’d expect — 5 years ago
Nice crisp dry white wine - paired well with poke bowls. Would definitely buy this again! — 6 years ago
