On the nose it’s almost nubuck leather that’s had a walk by the ocean. White and vaguely yellow flowers.
Miraflores seems to be a spectacular vineyard. Everything I’ve had that says sourced from there is worthwhile.
This…has no edges, no spikes, a complete whole.
On the palate, I get upon entry, the slightest hint of lemon peel. No heavy yeast, no wood showing through. Refreshment that at 15° sure doesn’t feel it.
There’s no heavy there. No overdone evidence of the barrel/butt that this was in. Pure pleasure. But intellectual enough to be quizzical, as I return, return, return. As it warms in the glass and has exposure to air, there’s more of the bodega, the terroir, and the wood coming through. Some of that ineffable lacquer and vaguely mushroom quality that good sherry Carries. Still no trace of heat or imbalance 2-3 hrs. in.
A perfect partner with fried smelts, grilled veg, and Insalata Caprese.

Nice concentrated golden color. In the nose melon, ananas, mango, and tropical fruits. On the palate extremely aromatic with strong taste of ripe melon, peaches, candied fruits. Another solid vintage. Blend of Alfrocheiro (40%), Touriga National (30%) and Tinta Roriz (30%). Dark ruby color. Aromas of ripe black fruit, violets and subtle spice. Flavors of black cherry/raspberry/currant/plum fruit, dried herbs and sweet baking spices. Slight touch of oak on the long finish. Noticeable acidity and very smooth tannins. Fresh and well balanced. On the palate with some weight (Encruzado influence?), a touch creamy, with some underripe white peach, white tea, a hint of bitter almond with a salty tang towards the mineral finish.

Nice refreshing bouquet of lemon zest and lime pith and fresh white peach with some minerally notes of pebbles and saline, and light oaky notes of cedar and pine. On the palate lemon, peach, and golden plum with notes of saline and hints of tangy white pepper with a subtle creaminess to the finish when it’s warmed up a bit.
