Portalegre Quinta da Fonte Souto Tinto 2019

45% Alicante Bouchet—oooh, a teinturier—plus 30% Syrah (which makes its presence known in smoky, meaty notes) and 25% Alfrocheiro. Hearty wine, textured without being, say, thick. There’s a bit of raisination on the nose countered by salinity, a little licorice and a lot of smoked meat. On the palate, it keeps on with that contrast being heady but also vibrant. There’s some silky chocolate vibes underneath it all. A delight for dinner, but you can sip it solo if you so choose. — 3 years ago

Fonte Da Perdiz

Douro Red Blend 2021

Nice medium to full bodied red. Red fruit and pepper on the nose. Ripe cherry with a light oak finish. Enjoyed with lamb in cream-Dijon sauce. Would pair with pastas, roasted chicken or pork. — 3 months ago

Vinha da Fonte Touriga Nacional 2021

Actually a blend of Cab Sauv, Castelão, Syrah, Touriga Nacional and Alicante Bouschet. This wine is a very dark purple, almost inky. The nose is also dark, showing blackberry notes alongside savory tobacco, spice and earth, all in a very smokey framework. The palate of this interesting blend is nearly stunning. Tannins have a good grip, but the blue fruit flavors are amazing and the acidity leaves the sipper salivating. It seems bizarre to me that this wine cost less than $10. It drinks like it should cost much more.

Florao Quinta da Fonte Souto Branco 2021

2021 vintage. Quinta da Fonte Souto is the first project from the Symingtons outside the Douro region. A 207 hectares estate with a around 45 hectares od vineyards in a cooler climate ( 500 m alitude) than the Alentejo plains. Florão is the entry level. This 2021 is a blend of Arinto ( 80%) and Verdelho ( 20%). Attractive nose with fresh ripe pineapple, flowers and a hint of fresh mint. Crisp and juicy. Very good value. — 3 years ago

Spumante Moscato

It is one of the best sweet sparkling wines I've ever tasted. You don't feel alcohol, when you drink it, because it tastes like lemonade, but after a couple of while, you definitely feel everything 😅 — 4 years ago

I’m a big fan. What was this? $16? It’s a big structured beast at this price. This grape is underrated. — 6 years ago

Santa Maria d'Orni Fonte Venna Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2017

Deep purple in color; black cherries, blackberries, and herbs (maybe thyme) on the nose; medium acidity; tastes like plum, a hint of green peppercorns, and blackberries with a long finish. Nellie and Bri didn't like it with spaghetti and I agree. — 3 years ago

Quinta da Fonte Souto Arinto Verdelho 2019

Delicious. Is that the least or most useful tasting note? But this is. It’s is a rich dish that someone thought fit to squeeze a lemon on to brighten that dish up. The new oak is in play and probably the biggest factor, but the acid is there—somehow gently cutting through.
Something still keeps it from being transcendent but you are definitely going to desire a second glass.
