2011v. Dark, inky purple. Very aromatic: lot of dark, ripe fruit (plums, blackberry), some meaty/syrah like notes, and sweet oak barrel. Rich fruit on the palette at forst, but then that fades to a little peppery spice that finishes a tad on the savory side. Medium acidity and soft, integrated tannins. This wines got alcohol but it's well balanced. My first lagrein varietal. A good alt to syrah or Cali zin.13.6% ABV. — 8 years ago

Concentrated orange and red fruit flavors: caramelized nectarine, Rainier cherries, raspberries, yellow flowers, apricot nectar, orange blossom water...all from a Grosse Lage site retailing for about $25! My favorite Forst vineyard. Such a great bottle, drinks itself. Punchy, thick, brawny, saline, but oh so acid. 12.5%. The Von Buhl cellars were hauntingly beautiful, candlelit like some otherworldly vampiric,
