HWT - Eric especially liked it, it was a rich and robust red that went well with food. $122 is pricy though — 10 months ago
Always enjoyable with pear and apple notes. Opening wine for SJOS Tasting I hosted — 2 years ago
Threw a few of these in the cellar just to see what would happen. Finally coming into its own in Hour 2. Dark blue black fruits, nice acidity, balanced. Really nice. Great for Sunday pasta and red sauce. — 4 years ago
Dinner w Bryan and Katy at Crown Super Deluxe, a fancy Benihana w JAPANESE FRUIT TOMATOES and lobster that jumps off the plate and proper Japanese A5 Wagyu (not some American imitation shit). The wine: a Cab franc merlot that’s lighter than you would expect. A recommendation from the house that was a delicious end to the meal, and was perfect w the Wagyu. — 6 years ago
Nose was a little strange. Slightly muted with notes of dark fruits and earth but the palette was phenomenal and smooth. Sweet at first with a dry finish — 2 months ago
This is a pleasant nebbiolo that I see pairing well with a lot of pasta dishes. Overall, this wine has very scrumptious red fruit flavors with settled tannins that balance the fresh acidity really well. It’s a translucent, pale red that’s medium bodied with scents of cherry, rose, and leather. Primarily it’s the cherry that comes through on the palate. The fine grained tannins transition to black tea notes and cherry on the finish. The fruit on the finish quickly disappears. — 5 months ago
Hampton liquor $22? — 9 months ago
Old school showing restraint and tradition. However, the fruit is a bit muted cherry and takes a backseat to earthy tones of forest floor, leather, and dried herbs. Tannins are firm yet balanced, and the finish carries a touch of tar and rose.
