I’m a sucker for Spanish Tempranillo. This wine seems less fruity and simultaneously more tannic than what I normally have. But still delicious. This is my first non Rioja Tempranillo. This is from the Castilla and Leon region. Typical? I’m eager to find out. — 7 years ago

Lunch at Granja Vendrell w kids. Skin contact blend made from local varietals in Catalunya. Expressive, slightly herbal nose. Tannic and gently acidic. Can taste the amphora in this wine. — 4 years ago

Granja Vendrell in Barcelona. Gewurztraminer from northern Italy. Sweet, honey nose, but very little sweetness on the palate. Stone fruits. Honey. Acidity keeps it fresh.
This Gewürztraminer in fact, is proposed with a style less concentrated on the aromatic part in favor of body and taste-olfactory finesse. The wine has a beautiful intense straw yellow color. On the nose, its fruity scents of white peach, citrus notes of lime and lemon, bergamot conquer the nose; also present hints of dried aromatic herbs such as thyme and white sage, decisive herbaceous and vegetable hints, which we then also find on the palate. On the palate, the wine is intense, with good minerality and great finesse, the characteristic of his personality that most represents him. Persistent, it remains on the palate very long, with great pleasure. — 4 years ago

Vale realmente a pena. — 7 years ago

Presented to me double blind at Tasting Group. The wine pours a deep ruby/purple color with an opaque core and some rim variation; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe and some dried red and black fruits: Luxardo cherry, plum, cocoa, purple, dried flowers, vanilla, and fine warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and alcohol seems elevated. Initial conclusions: this could be a super Tuscan with a good amount of Merlot; a Merlot-based blend from Saint Emilion or a Tempranillo from Italy, France or Spain. I didn’t think this gave me enough Italian vibes to make me comfortable with Italy conclusion and I thought this had too much pretty French oak on it to be likely from Spain so I went with my gut and called this a Merlot based blend from France, Bordeaux, Saint Emilion, 2006. Ahhhhh…dang it, Remelluri likes to use French Oak barrique and it threw me off. Gotta remember there are some more modern producers making wine like that. Good stuff though! Drink now through 2040. — 15 days ago
